Got some things done yesterday. Finally got my Upper Hafty's mounted (was waiting on hubs). They look awesome! I was able to mount them no problem to the Hyrax's, however, it made the tire bulge around the ring and left a gap between tire and ring. Bothered me, so I mounted them to the BFG KO2's. I'm getting a great deal on a set of Rock Beast XL's, so the Hyrax's will be up for sale. If anyone wants them, shoot me a PM.

This picture makes it look high in the front, it's just how it was sitting on the couch. Still haven't had a chance to paint and apply the freqeskinz.

SSD rear bumper came in. RPP is the shit! Love ordering from them. Ordered at 6:30 EST (3:30 in CA) on Monday, they got the order shipped that day, and it managed to get here in 2 days (CA to MI). I don't know how they manage to get it to me so quick. I get slower shipping from states that are way closer!

Anyway... second picture doesn't do it justice since my body is trimmed like shit. I need to clean it up and it would sit nice. Really happy with it! It sits high and tight which is nice. I need to trim the rear quarters cause it looks kinda weird right now. I'm thinking of a 'cut n fold' look. Open to ideas though.

Thanks! It's brand spankin new from SSD. I caught it on RPP's new item section about a month ago, and had them email me when they had stock. Second that email came through, I placed the order.

Which ones do you recommend? I want to get scale "acorn" hub hardware, but I want black and I've only found stainless. I like the contrast with the outer ring being black. Considering I have scale hardware on the rings, I want it all to be scale. I like the black I have, but they look kinda big with the other scale hardware.

The SSD ones work well for the front, their hub tool lets you get enough torque on them, and they use a nylock nut inside. Rear axle is a different story. Only thing I've found that doesn't eventually work free is a cut down Axial hub covering a stock nut. The RC4WD rears have normal nut that comes loose, and the tool strips the little ears off. GCM has machined threads, but once again they come loose after a while. Perhaps with loctite they would work better, but I take my wheels and tires off too frequently.

Why would the rear hubs be any different than the fronts if they all mount the same way?

SSD doesn't make rear covers. Only fronts with the appearance of a manual hub lock.

Why no one makes a reliable rear is beyond me.

Ahhh, right right. Yeah, I don't understand why the RC4WD ones don't use a nylock nut. Wonder if you could remove theirs and install one?

You could try, but even with the normal nut, I stripped the little ears on the face of two of them.

So I did end up ordering stainless scale acorn style hardware for the hubs. As much as I like the black on there, they just look too big with the scale hardware on the rings. If I'm really not a fan of the stainless, I'll just paint them best I can once they're mounted.

Updates with pictures to come...
