Servo horn clearance problem

I been trying to fit my Axial servo horn and they hit the panhard bar i heard some people change the straith rod end track bar by a bend one, for now i shim my servo, but i need advice and PICTURE with the bend track bar change. did i take the extra part did i get with the kit?

they have other colors too.
but gives you more room and an upgrade to the shock towers.....just a thought it may look like its touching but its not

Yeah, the Axial ones are a bit too fat for the clearance that it has by default. Racers Edge ones do fit fine though as they are slightly thinner. Had the same problem.

I had to put 2mm spacers under my servo, and then bend the horn arm a little. Still no room for an end screw in the horn, it's just clamped on by the side screws. Seems like Axial left this area much too tight. I made some links with 4mm steel rod and rc4wd rod ends. With a couple of small bends i got better clearance to the servo and gained some suspension travel.

Is there a problem with shimming the servo that makes you want to change? I, too, have 2mm spacers to lift the servo up a touch. It's still solid.

I used a racers edge servo horn, no shimming needed at all

Well, Axial had their servo horn out before the 10.2 although now that this is out I am surprised axial has yet to actually redesign their aluminum servo horns so they actually fit their newest SCX10 Model. Probably will eventually of course, just need people complaining to them about the issue enough times to get something done about it.

I'm using the thin blue aluminum hitec servo horn with no clearance issues. Those axial ones are nice but do t really fit in a few situations where I tried using them. The racers edge ones that someone suggested are a bit thicker then the hitec one I have but still thin enough to work in most places and are plenty strong. I have a bent one but it's only from impacts

I run the Racers Edge servo horn on a couple SCX10 IIs. It clears with no mods needed. They are a bit soft compared to some of the other servo horns out there, but I have only stripped one. That was on a heavy Bomber with lots of power and I was jumping (crashing) it pretty hard.

Do you by chance know which one? Vanquish has two servo horns 20mm and 24mm.

I'm not sure. I just remember seeing a build the other day that was using one. It cleared everything.

Do you perchance have a dremel. If you do you could always shave it down a bit to get it to fit correctly, or do as others have done and add some o rings to lift the Servo up a bit.

I ordered a team losi one for my kit, ended up hitting also because it angles down (up normally). Luckily had a racers edge on my bomber so just swapped the two. Any reason you can't return the axial one you bought?

Food for though:

I used the plastic one included in the kit because the aluminum one I purchased (losi something or other) wasn't long enough. I had to shim it up maybe a millimeter and then trim the ridges on the plastic horn. It works for me with no bending.

Kinda depends on how you drive as well. I know I have stripped out more of those plastic horns than I care to think about, than again I have a fairly high torque servo, if your servo isn't above say 300 oz. in. than you can probably get away with it for awhile. All of mine are 400+ oz. in. so things tend to strip a Lot faster, especially when I flip them back to four wheels when they are on their side.

Start with the offset rod end to lower the panrod bar & go from there.

I will try with both, i try just the one on the tower shock didnt fit as well
After several try ( curved rod end, smaller one ) the only way to fit this axial servo horn, is to put a shim under the servo, I use the part who are supposed to hold the wire on the top of the servo, i've just put it between the servo and the servo frame. Without it, the horn hit the panhard braket of the shock tower and didn'T allow full steering angle.

The axial horn has two mounting holes at 16 and 20mm. Therefore I suspect the 20mm vanquish would be the most suitable option. Hopefully someone who has installed a vanquish servo horn on an SCX10-ii can confirm.
