Default How to shorten wheelbase on kit?

I am about to start assembly on my kit. I would like to use the axial Jeep Mighty FC body but I believe it is a shorter (11.3?) wheelbase.

Is it difficult to shorten the kit version wheelbase?

Do I need to shorten both the front and rear links or can I just do the rear?

Does anyone know of an off the shelf link that I could just bolt on and be done with this? I don't really want to fiddle with it too much. If doing this is a hassle I think I will just go with the stock Cherokee body.

Thanks for any advice you might be able to share.

The front stays the same. Mine is a kit also. I had a set of hot links racing links from my scx10-1 laying around. This what did to fit my FC body. I used the 122 links on the rear and pulled out the 2) 1 mm spacers on the lower links. I used 112 links in the upper but I added the 2mm spacers to the 112 links for a total of 4 spacers.. I moved the shock towers toward the most forward holes. I used some of the shorter drive shaft pieces from the kit. I swapped the front and rear frame bummer mounts around. The front is now on the rear vise versa.im not running the lower front body piece. In not running a bumper except the molded one on the body.

Sorry. I thought the rtr had all the same stuff except the transmission/gear box as the kit. That's why I put probably the same. Not trying to be a smart ass.

I don't remember the numbers, but if you take the stock WB and subtract the WB you want that should give you how much to take out of the rear. Again I don't remember the exact numbers, but when I had planned on running my rc4wd blazer body on my v2 I was gonna try running a set of front links in the rear. The front is 3 linked, but the links are sold in pairs. I hope this makes sense.

Ok I did a little more research... the front upper and lower links that come on the SCX10.2 kit are approximately 0.9" shorter than the rear upper and lower links... (I know the front is a 3 link but the links ARE sold in pairs) parts # AX31419 and AX31421... so I could buy the metal part of the front links and just insert them in the rear link ends that come with my kit.

my question is: does having links that are 0.9" shorter mean that my wheelbase will be 0.9" shorter? I am guessing there is some geometry that might mess this up...

I would think you'll get pretty close. As for links that are a hiatus too short spacers can be used as showed above. I didn't quite like my WB with a vaterra k5 body so this morning I made spacers for all 4 rear links and it worked perfect.

I was playing with this a little while building my second kit for my proline blazer body. I need just over 11" and if I measured correctly the front links on the rear would put it right about 11.5. I'm going to make my own links when my stainless 4mm rod shows up. Just because I want it to be perfect
