Default What does it mean to overdrive the front axle?

I read about people overdriving or underdriving one of the axles?

The front wheels spin faster than the rear. It helps significantly with climbing and in my opinion turning.

From what I've read here as far as the SCX10.2 is concerned, it means to drive the front axles faster until the cheapo aftermarket Xtraspeed gears explode.

Here is an example of overdrive underdrive. You see the shaft from the transmission is going into the transfer case and directly into the rear axle keeping that stock axial drive. The transfer case then gears up to 1.47:1 and shoots the driveshaft to the front axle. This means for every 1 rotation of the front tires, the rear goes about 3/4 of a rotation. As stated above, helps with climbs and steering quite a bit. Or as also stated, get the xtraspeed 1 piece spool overdrive gear and watch it strip. Im sure it will work really well once or twice!

I run the Toyzuki V2 setup which I believe is a 31% overdrive? All I know is I love it. No Xtra speed junk gears for me.

Or the rears are slower by underdrive on them....

Reason for either is to let the rear follow rather than pushing

Hang up and Drive
