Default Kit vs RTR gearing differences inside tranny?

My son has a RTR SCX10 II that has a stock esc, motor, pinion and spur gear. His gearing is 13t by 56t . My SCX10 II is kit version with a hobbywing esc and a 27 turn epic brushed motor. I am geared at 11t by 56 tooth. We both run the exact same batteries but mine is a good bit faster on the top end. Cant figure it out. Both batteries are 5200mah and 2s. Only thing i can figure is they are geared differently inside the transmission....any help would be appreciated!

the biggest difference is the rtr has a 35t motor and yours has a 27t motor...there is a slight difference in the trans gearing inside...

I agree with Allanon. When my RTR was bone stock against my brother's Honcho (35t vs 27t), his was as fast as mine on a 2-cell vs. my 3-cell. Crawling was a different story though and his 27t was quite jumpy compared to my 35t. We both had the same transmission, gearing, and transmitters.

not really, this is the FDR for both, even though this says the original scx10, the RTR scx10II uses the original scx10 trans...this is directly from the axial website:

• Transfer case design helps keep the driveshafts centered and as low as possible in the chassis
• Final drive ratio range 33.69 – 54.15 with available spur - pinion gear combinations
• Comes with 56T spur gear and 15T pinion / 32-pitch for durability
• All metal internal gears for strength and durability
• Final drive ratio (FDR) 40.44 with a range from 33.69 - 54.15 - Original SCX10 was 33.06
• Scale looks mimics a full size transmission and transfer case

You are wrong sir. Look at exploded views in both manuals. Do the math on the gears. There both the same. Rtr. Has 3 gears in trans. Kit has 2 in trans and 3 in transfer case. There both 2.6-1. Manual ratio is wrong. I actually emaild axial about it and they confirmed. Kit comes with a different motor pinion is all.

The internal ratio is 2.6:1 on both transmisions.

Yes the driveshaft is lower in the new transmission bu the rest of the transmisssion is higher and so is the motor. So I doubt very much if the CoG is lower.
