Default Boom Racing bevel and spool

Has anyone tried these? Just wondering about wear.

I'm very intrigued with these. They look good. Try them out and let us know...

Been meaning to ask the same thing as they look decent and the price is right. VP Has some now as well which I am guessing would hold up well, just more expensive so wouldn't mind having these for the price difference if they do hold up well.

Not impressed with the VP, there are a bunch of variations on the weak 3 bolt style. This seems like the only company that addressed the weak area of the bevel/spool interface. Then you add their spool and it's $13 more with no way to extract the bolts that will eventually break.

Good to know, thank's for that information there. Yeah, I have noticed the variations as well, hence the reason I ordered a bag of 12.9 screws because I had already sheered 3 completely out, granted I suppose that should be semi sorta expected when running HH 2700kv motor on 3s and running into a bag that wound up wrapping the axle up lol. At any rate I do see what you mean with the gear and spool set from Boom Racing being a change and honestly if the gear and spool are not too weak of a metal that should help quite a bit with sheering any screws as the gear and spool should stop it from spinning enough that it would sheer the screws.

Ordered. Nice to get a discount for ordering more than one. Will get some pics up when they show up. Broke three more of the little 2x8 bolts on Sun. Will be nice if that weak link is gone.

Where did you order from? I'm having trouble finding anywhere that has them in stock outside of Amazon, and I can't stomach dropping $16 to ship these.

Ugh, It's telling me temporarily unavailable for order, and it's been like that for 3 days.
What's it say for you?

Just chatted with them and they said that they are in stock, but the page isn't working. I will update when they let me know it's fixed.

Whelp, they had a potential quality issue, so they stopped selling until they know what they have in stock is good.

I have them, but haven't put them in yet. I bought these and the VP on the same day. VP arrived in 2 days, Boom in 6 days.....not bad for shipping from overseas.

I'd rather buy the VP, but given they still put the load on the screws themselves, I'd rather buy the Boom Racing stuff. I'd rather buy American, but I'm not going to if it's not superior.

Did not catch it before but these also use m2.5 bolts not m2s. Hope they figure out their issues, this is the missing piece for my bulletproof drive train!

Well, I have the VP one. Got some 12.9 screws for it, and low and behold, still sheered the screws

I have had mine around half a year( not SCX10's, But Wraith's ) BOOM RACING Heavy Duty Bevel Helical Gear gears and pinions. The front Boom Racing OD gears already worn out. Luckily the rear still in very good shape. I think one of the reason for the front worn out faster than the rear was because axle's housing bearing slop? or maybe it was an Over drive gear? The rear is Standard gears.

Helical gears create a force in the axial direction when turning, so one side will be pulled in, and the other pushed out. If you haven't shimmed one of the sides correctly, this will cause extra wear, most likely on the side that gets pulled in (in your case likely the front).
