Vanquish products Currie axle shimming

looking at purchasing f9 curries for my scaler, ive tried to find what shims people are using to shim the ring and pinion gears when setting them up but cant seem to do so.

what shims are you using? part number?

how many and where did you end up placing them?

thank you in advance

My F9s didnt require the shimming that my rockjocks did. But, I also used the VP ring/pinion on the F9s. The shims I used on the rockjocks are the Traxxas TRA1985 teflon washers.

On my rockjocks, I only needed to use one on the outside between the housing and the driveshaft.

No room for shims on mine when new, but after some use and abuse, i have 0.3mm shims under the cv's to keep things nice and trim. At first i thought the shims whould go under the pinion gear, but that made the mesh bind up. With the shims under the cv's, it's all still running smooth and precise.

I'm looking to get a set of the Rockjocks. With the price obviously I want to make sure I'm going the correct route. Was the a functional reason you ended up going with the F9's? Or do you just like the looks of them?

I went with the f9s because i liked the way they look.

I also prefer the ability to be able to set the ring and pinion up in the third member and then install into the housing.

I wanted to use vanquish's new servo on axle mount that they now make for the f9s only.

and they were giving away free gear sets with f9 housing purchases for a while

overall i am 100 percent happy with my purchase they assembled perfectly and are butter smooth
