Need overdrive for front differential.

Any suggestions on overdrive gear set for the front diff. Or is there an update gearing for the trans for our scx10 II.

Hot Racing makes one. Or get the Toyzuki V2 chassis and you’ll get underdrive in the rear.

You also get a front and rear drive shaft that is out of phase. Being out of phase results in vibrations and in extreme circumstances a jump drive train.

Not a problem on mine.

Re: Need overdrive for front differential.

GCM’s new scale transmission conversion kit for the SCX10 (and 10-II) includes their LRT2 transfer case which overdrives the front axle, while increasing scale looks and providing room for an interior. Win-win-win.

Another vote for GCM’s kit.

Thanks guys, I think we will pass on the gcm scale transmission. $$$$$

And like anything, you get what you pay for.

I totally understand what you're saying but if there is a vibration its extremely minimal at best.

I agree. It's mostly non-existent using the WB8's or any CVD style universals with a sliding pin. Using a traditional U-joint universal, yes, driveline phasing and angle is very important.

It's less than you think but still more than most people are willing to pay for a transmission... I can't fault people for balking at that price. It's not cheap.

yes it's not cheap, but for me the benefits outweighed the price. Overdrive front, front weight bias, scale looks (not that important to me), allowed me to use my 10.2 kit trans in a different truck.

Totally agree. I'm ordering one as soon as the US GCM store has them back in stock for at least one of my builds if not two. It sounds absolutely awesome.

I just got mine in today. Got it from the Canada store. I was blown away by how fast it got here.

Re: Need overdrive for front differential.

You have a few options:
Hot Racing makes a set of overdrive gears, but its fairly modest ~10%.

The Toyzuki SCX10 II chassis (for kit transmission) gives you a good bit of overdrive as well as a ton of tuning options. The chassis itself it kinda pricey, but there are a bunch of other things that you will likely have to buy to go with the chassis to get up and running so this can really be an expensive undertaking.

Some of the other Chinese manufacturers have released underdrive and overdrive gears, but I'm not sure of their quality.

Deadloc Racing has their "TNT" transfer case, which gives you 30% overdrive up front but it requires you to invert your rear axle using one of their kits or axle housings. I have bought a couple things from them and I was not all that impressed with it, but several of the local guys are running their products and seem to be happy with them.

Re: Need overdrive for front differential.

I just bought and installed the Hot Racing overdrive gear set for the SCX10 II. It installed easily and I've had no issues with it yet. It does seem to help a bit, but it doesn't seem to be nearly as effective as the over drive gear set for the SCX OG.

Toyzuki overdrive trans plus the Hot Racing overdrive gears in the front axle are an awesome combo..."thumbsup"

Hot racing makes overdrive gears eh? They have to be better than that xtraspeed cap made of butter and saki cans.
