If I had to guess I'd say I'm the only one to run the extensions and likely the first to test them. If the designer tested them then he needs to fire himself for designing them wrong.

On the stock housing I had to cut the outer part of the splines off and slide the extensions 10mm further onto the housing than they were designed to do so the shafts didnt have 10mm of thrust in & out of the locker. In that pic I losted I used an ssd rear and cut the tube ends off, did some internal dremel work on the extensions and slid them further onto the housing. This time it is solid but they are far from a "bolt on" like they would have been if they were designed right in the first damned place!

I had seen this asked somewhere but can't find it now... have you given any consideration to building axle shafts with integrated shock/link mounts?

integrating the lockouts was great for scale. Integrated shock/link would be awesome for scale. Get rid of those unsightly bolts. If not SSD, would love someone else to make this. I do not have any clue how these are made. If by lathe, I understand the reasons; but, if they are cast in a mold... go for it.

That looks like a lot of leverage placed on those 2 screws going into plastic

It's 3 screws and really the screws just keep the tube from sliding laterally. Most of the structural load is taken by the case itself. The tubes slide farther into the case than it looks. I had my doubts when I got my Pro44 set but after assembling them I have zero concern about structural stability.

There is an option coming that looks a helluva lot like that axle but with a full length truss to not only correct the horrific geometry but to ensure it stays together under harder usage.

I will. I'm building a new rig so I'll have a whole build thread.

Is that your photo?

I thought that was all molded, but I'm not sure how that would happen unless it gets a secondary machining operation and that was missed.

Maybe it is an xr mod tube that was accidentally thrown in... or a machining error.

There are some machining processes after casting.

I forgot they were metal which is why I said molded instead of cast.

How's the size of the pumpkin compare to the SCX10 II pumpkins?

The max size is the same at the largest point (ring gear area). Pro44 are actually slighty smaller in other areas due to the more angular/scale pumpkin shape.
