Rear axle diff cover bolts

So I'm very happy with my SCX10.2. It works even better than my K10 Ascender but it does have one thing that is bothering me.

I like the hi pinion axles but I noticed in my backyard rock garden test track that the forward facing lower 2 bolts on the rear diff that hold the cover/bearing caps on tend to get hung up on rocks a lot. Has anybody had a similar situation and if so would they like to share what they did to help lesson that occurrence? I was thinking maybe some button head screws instead of the stock cap screws?

I run these f&r with the Boom axles but they will fit on the stockers and the diff cover adds some weight down low.

How much ground clearance did you give up with those skids? I'm running a TSL SX that is only 4.3" tall so I don't want to give up too much.

Edit: never mind, your pic just showed up, lol.

About 2-3mm. I have to say, it makes me smile whenever I hear the steel grinding on rocks rather than the axle.

Re: Rear axle diff cover bolts

Ok, since I already have SSD diff covers I decided to try the M2.6x18 button head screws. They were a little bit of a pain to locate as my first choice (mcmaster-carr) didn't have any. I searched Axial's website and apparently they are used on the 1/18 scale yeti and score. The part number is AX31491 and RPP has them in stock but there is a typo in the title as it says M2.6x1 which is why they don't come up in a google search. I will let you know how they work out. Thanks for the info guys!
