Is your daughter OK after falling on the truck?

Re: Nukizer Truggy build2

So first of all i needed to get the car sat how i wanted before building the cage.

I must say im massivly impressed by these shocks. i know my old ones were xtraspeed remote shocks (save your money) but these are a massive improvement and feel so smooth once built up. in the box you get spare set of hoses, 3 different internal spring rates (gold hard, silver med, black soft), spares, stickers, a nice tool for removing the piston, clear instructions if needed and a bag of spares.

the piston is nice and firm in the shock body with no play and you can take the reservoir apart allowing you to properly bleed the oil through.

i went with 45wt oil to start with as i feel this rig will become heavy pretty quickly.

So these are a couple of quick pics.

shes going to be short, have cut the chassis back to the second hole in.

please excuse the welds haha. hard to weld 5mm bar with 1mm welding wire. makes a mess really quickly. for some reason i could get them to stick strong enough for brazing.
the main hoop around the cab is 6mm steel bar, rear section is 5mm steel bar and the rock sliders are c section. i have drilled a hole though the top of the slider and put the main hoop inside and welded from the inside so there is no visible weld on the sliders.

Re: Nukizer Truggy build2

So christmas happened and i have built a cherokee hard body with the daughter so this got put on the back burner. back to it now though.

Got the chequer plate out and started to build the flat bed. ran it only as wide as the chassis rails and then angled over the transmission. hoping to mount the resivours for the rear shocks on the angled piece but we shall see if its strong enough as time goes on.

started adding the scale bits to the back and wired in the light. annoyingly i forgot to melt the braiding so it has frayed but its hidden so got away with it.

I have a few more scale bits to add and then onto the axles and setting up the suspension.
I have new bearings all round. I havnt taken the axles apart since i first built it so who knows what state im going to find those in. fingers crossed.

The Cherokee in question got a running at the weekend!!! first sunny day of the year pretty much down here in cornwall so we headed to the beach to play on the rocks.

So i forgot to take some pictures of the build so supprise its all done!!!

I finished off the suspension with some boomracing internal spring remote shocks 100mm. the front i used to middle spring and in the rear i used the hardest. 40wt oil all round to start the testing of the rig. surprisingly this set up works blooming well straight away. The fronts droop abit allowing it to point where and when i need it too and the back sits firm and perfect. the side hilling capability is good considering the weight of the steel cage. I plan on sorting some more scale accesssories for the bed and sort some lighting for the rig. have lost the light buckets but want a small light bar to go on the stinger and wire in the led for the rear bed. i also found some COB lights the same width as the chassis rails for abit of underlighting for night crawling.

more to come ;)
also any suggestions on a short light bar (70mm or less) please let me know.

Build looks good, and you've got a very nice looking play area as well!

The customs I can just about deal with, its Royal Mail's admin charge that pi$$es me off no end!!!
I often ask vendors to put a $1 valuation on the delivery label, that avoids customs but opens you up to insurance issues if the package goes missing.
