Sure, using the ar44 c hubs is fine for the majority that will want xr width. Scale guys can run a panhard and comp guys can cut it off and adapt whatever knuckle they choose to the ar44 c hubs. Thats the easy part.

Indeed, the 7 scale guys that want xr width can do whatever they want, there is no need to force anyone to do anything. This is a discussion that will hopefully help us out by expanding our parts sources but help out ssd with more sales.

Anybody have any advice on how to get some low weight on the rear axle? I run servo on axle and previously ran brass ssd knuckles but now I feel like there is to much forward weight.

I did think of that and it might just be the only option although I’ve tried to remove as much weight as I can from the drive train and wheels

Only way I can think to add significant weight.

The other option is to run two front axles and use the lockouts (so you can still use the bolt on weights)

That's going to take a while, design, samples, test etc...

Add the width between the link mounts and the center to spread the lower links and shock mounts out and be done with it. Its just added width to an existing part with known dimensions. Many times the best soution is the simplest. We aren't building a space station here after all.

You may not know it but this center section design you brought to market is quickly revolutionizing the sportsman class comp crawlers. There are half a dozen companies racing to get axle tubes, link mounts and trusses to market right now. I'm working with a few of them, it's a great time to be in the hobby.

That is the easiest way to do it. However, link geometry and shock angles will be effected a lot. So not so keen on this idea really.

I would prefer cleaner one piece tubes to be honest but cost may be an issue doing this.

So extenders on the ends of the tubes maybe the cheapest and most compatible solution for XR width tubes with no changes to geometry etc...

I dont think original XR universals fit properly inside AR44 C hubs so new CVDs are probably needed also.

We'll get there with a bit of thought and discussion...

Yes I know there are a few other vendors working on tubes. That was the plan for these all along.

I wasn't suggesting an add on piece to extend the existing tubes, just making the tube longer itself. 1 piece tubes all the way, sorry for the confusion.

Add the width outside of the link mounts if you like as that simplifies the geometry issue. I'd like the link mounts spread out further for my personal uses so I'm selfish in that suggestion.

You are correct that xr universals won't clear ar44 c hubs cleanly. The hub center needs work to clear. That makes the easy route using ar60 style splines on the tubes. That creates another issue for the scale market not having a mount for the panhard bar. The tube could have a mount cast in but that creates an issue in machining time & cost. A new c hub made to have a mount built in which would be handy on other ar60 style axles. A bolt on mount could be made as an option part. Tap a couple holes in the tube and ship them out.

The bolt pattern of the diff cover/pinion mount,-does it match the stock Axial cover pattern ?

Thanks

Maybe the bearing holders on the PRO44 have the same pattern as well ?
