Default My Hilux project.

I picked up another complete scx10.2 chassis minus drive line. Decided I wanted to test my patience and build by true definition a truggy. This will probably be a slow drawn out build since I'll be slowly sourcing drive line parts and also figuring out what style back end I want to build. So far the only thing I know I want to try is pinching the nose a little and fit an interior hopefully. Non of my trucks have had one yet and I think this truck should be the one I do. So far I threw some left over links I had laying around on the chassis As well as some empty ar44 housing I've had sitting in the corner. I chopped some of the front of the chassis off since I wanted the cab to sit back a little and chopped the front of the fenders. Sat the cab on top and took a couple pictures not a lot to see yet.

Robbed my axles off my tundra truck for mocking up the cab. Think it'll have to get raised up a bit.

Think I've got the cab sitting where I'd like it. Hopefully start making some metal bits for it this weekend as long as I get my safety silv.

I love how this is turning out. If any experienced cage builders see anything I need to add structure wise please let me know. This is my first ever brazed up cage so I'd like it not to fall apart still need to get the cab mounted and sliders attached.

One without the tire on.

Body mounts are on as well as sliders! I expected this to take much longer. I'm going to have to start looking for axles trans and running gear soon...

Started on the bumper. Also had to chop up the fenders for clearance

Thanks. Got a ton of stuff ordered this weekend. Could possibly move under its own power this weekend.

The main chassis hoop and sliders are 1/4" brake line. The rest is 3/16" brake line.

Front bumper is done. Could have turned out better but it's going to get banged up anyways. Also got some more goodies in the mail. I have a trans and drive shafts now

Not sure everything I have is blue Lol thinking a green of some sort. The chassis is going to get powdercoated after it's all done as well not sure what color for that either.

Got my electronics in today. Also got my matching spare tire and wheel. It moves under it's own power sort of. Everything works which is all I really wanted to check. Also wanted to get a rough weight on it so I weighed it. Right over 6lbs. Balance feels pretty good as well.

Plates brazed on where the electronics will go. I also started filling unwanted holes in the cab.

So I think it's going to be Toyota 375 for the paint color. Its period correct and I think it looks perfect. Test sample on the fender.
