Neat! New axle housings, they look wider than the ar44s. Now where the Hell is that ‘69 blazer. |

Good find! Those axle housings look really good, nice upgrade and one piece with integrated shock mounts! Thanks |

I like that the ring is a one piece together with the spool, too bad is sintered steel and not hardened steel like a regular AR44 ring & pinion

As an internet expert, I declare: Pros: - One piece housings look awesome - One piece ring gear/locker means no broken screws. Gears are now sintered which may not be as good, I'll reserve judgement on this one. The Ascender has sintered gears and they are pretty bombproof. - Wildpeak tires are a good all around performer (but why aren't all Axial tires R35? Can it really cost that much more?) - The Honcho body is a classic and still awesome - $329 is a very attractive price in the current RTR market Cons: - Dogbones. Ewww - Plastic links. They have to be better than the ones from the SCX10 RTRs, right? - Why weren't the new metal trans gears included? They cost a whopping $7 at retail, how much could they actually add to the kit price? - The new Tactic radio included is the most uncomfortable, awful radio I have ever experienced. The batteries also like to spontaneously eject from the bottom while holding it. Yeti Jr owners can confirm. All in all, looks like a pretty solid RTR entry. There should be a lot of these on the trails after noobs get their holiday gift money. Now to see if they change even more stuff for the other coming SCXII RTR versions. |

If they’ve already done a redesign of the AR44 housing, I wonder if a front mounted motor transmission with transfer case is in the works

The rear bearing retainer screws are top & bottom just like ssd weights. Coincidence? Cool looking rig, I'll pick one up. |

Hey it's not a Jeep! But it is the old Ford wannabe body. They should have updated it, but it's nice to have the Honcho back. All this one piece stuff really shows Axial is on a cost cutting mission right now. Not a good thing. Plastic gears, plastic links, and dog bones are also part of the cost cutting measures. A plastic Axial idler gear. They have to be kidding! We know that won't last long. And unless they improved their rubber links those things will pretzel in no time. The wheels are the nicest looking Axial RTR wheels though. If Axial keeps it up they'll be dead last in every competition not just Big Squid's. |

But at least they are getting stuff to retailers, unlike another manufacturer.

Ford body? It's always been a Tacoma body. Cost cutting isn't bad especially when it is linked with price cutting. $329 is cheap enough I won't feel bad replacing half of it. Plastic links & dog bones are great, it'll get dlux Ti links, cheezberger and fba axles anyway. The 1 piece gears are decent too, if the ring gear/locker is a $5 part then it'll be a cheap repair to make since the pinion is still hardened. |

I wish Axial was more brave with new products. Sure it will probably 1 up the old honcho if not then at least in scale appearance. |

The normal Axial SCX10 II RTR Jeep is only $60 more and it includes metal links and universals. Those two items alone are worth the extra cost IMHO. This thing should be priced closer to $300 and then it would be a deal. | ||

It's a 99 Tacoma, always has been. Universals would have been nice but axial links have always been crap. Aluminum hangs up, Ti slides and is cheap. |

Agreed the new axles look great! (maybe the price will finally drop on the AR44's?) Also like the wheels - plastic wheels have their place.. these are pretty nice. |
