Also looking to use the TRX4 fenders can anyone show how they mounted them to the chassis?

i got my trx fenders and was kinda able to mount them up mostly using zipties. there's the huge gap between them and the body as mentioned, and since i run my rear shock loops backwards i had to hack up the rear fender wells a bunch. i'm not too bummed since they were only $12, but i'm definitely going to go a different route. i just bought a 3d printer, so i'll probably just print some.

there's a link in this thread somewhere for a file that's like $8, but i'd have to modify the file since i've flipped my rear shock towers and changed some other things. i may just design my own. i'm not the worst 3d modeler i know, and i've been having fun making my own bumpers/belly sliders for my brother's ascender. might as well add inner fenders to the list!

I bought a stack of eight Rubbermaid containers for $4 and started hacking. It's cheap plastic not Lexan and subject to cracking when you cut it but it still qualifies in the experimental stage. A quality lexan hole reamer pays for itself here. 1 coat of black paint all the way around to hide the cheapness. Prototype 1 Probably spent about 3 hours in total. First one was 1.5 hours. They're not really fastened, just slipped over the body posts and held down with a body clip. The vehicle body holds them in place the rest of the way. I've yet to run them, so verdict still out on durability. |

I realize this is not an Axial truck, but this idea could work for the SCX24, perhaps. This is a Hobby Plus CR-18 1/18 scale crawler. For wheel wells, I used two yogurt cups (from Aldi store). I cut each one in half, trimmed them to fit, painted them and mounted them to the truck's aluminum frame using existing screws. Came out OK. Last edited by retrogrouch71; 03-22-2020 at 01:41 PM. |
