OHOs Axial SCX10II.

Ordered 4pm yesterday from Modelsport, got a text about 4.20 to say despatched, assumed it was incorrect/automated, but got another one at about 8am to say it'll be here by 10.
To my surprise, a chap turned up with a nice big box this morning.
I am very under the weather at the moment and my SCX10 OG is still in bits and needing rebuilt, so the actual build won't happen for a while but I thought I'd start a thread while I remember to!
For now, it's just acting as a stand for scale accessories!

I don't think it'll be anything particularly special, bought some SSD machine black diff covers, hate the red.
Got a HobbyWing 1080, Holmes TorqueMaster Expert 35t and a choice of high KG Savox and Hitecs, not decided yet :D

Re: OHOs Axial SCX10II.

I wasn't going to start this until my OG SCX10 was finished and running again, but I just couldn't resist, I swear there was a few times I am sure it actually shouted to me LOL!

But I have decided to start a few bits of it to get them out of the way.

I will say this so far, I know we've all seen stock build threads, but I did want to comment on the whole package, compared to the old kit.

This is by a long way better.

HD axle gears, unis, definitely better plastics, chunkier links... Everything just seems better made and a better product.

So far anyway!

I hope it's not only me that loves to get that first bolt in and especially with a brand new hex tip!

Axles partially built, not going all the way with them as I am waiting for some SSD machined diff covers, really dislike the 'toy' feel of these red ones.

Unfortunately, I made a bit of a mistake, I ordered the Pro44 ones, without noticing (somehow) they are for the SSD Pro44 axles... I mistook it for AR44 lol.
Having to use the red covers for now afterall, I'll get some replacements in the near future.

Re: OHOs Axial SCX10II.

Little bit of progress, nothing too exciting, my motor is on the way though, so that's pretty cool, should have it soon.

A little disappointed with the transmission, I'm not a huge fan of the size and the whole design personally, although I can see the advnatages for those wanting to run 2 speed.

The top shaft has a lot of play back and forward though, which after checking on Google and finding lots of threads about it, is a common issue, with Vanquish having promptly made a part that fixes it.

I did contact Axial about it, I doubt they'll do much though.

So, I may try running it as it is, or if the Castle combo comes in stock for my Bomber, I'll put the shaft in with that order and get it in straight away, I will see how I feel and see how stock goes of my combo.

Re: OHOs Axial SCX10II.

Made a start on the XJ body today, decided I will use this body rather than sell it for something 'older'

I'm using a method I've not used before for cutting it out, just scoring (very carefully) along the cut lines and snapping it, like styrene, seems to be working nicely so far.

Just need to get a finishing block ordered for any sharp bits, but it's cutting the protective film nice and cleanly too, less risk of overspray.

Thanks to Mr Chris from Hemistorm for this idea in one of his videos.

Re: OHOs Axial SCX10II.

I*got half way through the shell, noticed what looked like marks on the outer film, so I run my finger over it just to check (the bonnet one first) to find the body is actually creased.

I double checked a few other places and the rear 'bumper' has 4 very noticable creases, these will look like hell when painted!

Sent an E-Mail off about this along with the top shaft nonsense.

Rather annoyed now, they better sort this out.

There are more than the pictures show below, but I couldn't be bothered to get pictures of every single one.

I had the rear bumper problems to.Didn't worry about as I installed an aftermarket bumper, and that part of the body had to come off.I didn't had any issues with the body anywhere else though

I have a few in different places unfortunately.
I will be running the stock set up to begin with, as I've not seen anything aftermarket I like the look of.
Axial QC seems to be slipping.

Do you have a picture of the rear one you're using?

thats the wide rock shield. not a pic of my truck though. it looks better if you dont cut the back flat across the top of the bumper as in this pic but dip it down to replicate the proper boot lid sitting in the bumper.

Re: OHOs Axial SCX10II.

That actually does look quite nice, I like the tucked in style on this kinda body.
Will see what CML come back with, I E-Mailed about the shaft and body, they replied saying nobody else has reported the shaft, which I just can't see being true, considering most have the issue and didn't even reply about the body, so guessing not much will be done about either, but we'll see, fingers crossed.

Given me some ideas anyway, I'm going to get it rolling properly before I worry too much about bumpers.
Want to make sure I actually like it lol.

One thing is for sure.Front bumper is way to bulky. That will get you hung up on everything

Re: OHOs Axial SCX10II.

Yes I did notice that actually, I might be able to modify it somehow just to begin with.
With this kit and all electrics, plus Bomber and electrics and all the bits and pieces I've bought, I'm about spent up for a while, so I need to stop looking at bumpers lol!
