Default Problem with rear differential

Hi all,

I've start a build of a SCX10-2 Cherokee,
now whem I have finished the build of the axles,I noticed a little problem,
when You turn the wheels the differential will lock in one direction and not in the other... However when You turn on the pinion gear shaft everything works just fine... Is this normal...?
The front diff seems not to have this problem...

The diff work better with the gearbox and axles connected, its a problem many of us ran into building our SCX 10 II rides.

I am sure if you pull in the input shaft as you turn it you will find it rotate smooth, on the other hand if you push a little on it while turning it will rotate bad.

maybe put something thru the hole in the input shaft and give it a good pull, the bearings and so on might not be seated 100 %

Attach the rear WB8 HD driveshaft and try spinning it again. everything should be smooth. it seems the driveshaft holds the pinion from binding with the ring gear.

Exactly, if I spin the input shaft where the WB8 driveshaft will be connected it spins OK in both directions...
I'll continue the build and see what happens when finished...

Tovanni -

When I built mine earlier this year, I experienced the exact same thing. Everyone assured me this was normal, so I continued on. Once I got to the step where I attached the drive shafts, I learned that the way they connect to the pinion shaft actually pulls them a little, and eliminates the binding that you're seeing now.

Keep on goin! You will be pleasantly surprised.

Yes,

That is the exact same answer that I got from Axial. I contacted them because I had one shockshaft with no thread on and a broken gear in my kit... I went to their HQ here in Belgium for the replacement parts and they explained to me why this problem excists...
Great service there and friendly people!
I will attach the axles tomorrow, and then see if everything is OK but I'm pretty sure it will...

And everything is OK... So if anyone runs into this problem during their build, just keep going, everything will work out just fine...
