SCX10.2 Honcho vs Jeep Wranger What's the difference between these two models, they are both SCX10 IIs but there is a big price difference. Can someone please advise? Is there a reason someone should get one over the other? I don't understand. https://m.ebay.com/itm/NEW-TRAXXAS-1...72.m2749.l2649 Additionally, you get dogbones instead of CVDs; this limits the steering angle but can also be upgraded. Personally, I like the Honcho body better; mine has been upgraded. Cheapest I can find are here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/2Pcs-1-10-S...AAAOSwfRdZLows |
Re: SCX10.2 Honcho vs Jeep Wranger More factory upgrades on the Jeep, I bought the Honcho, then i can pick my upgrades. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk |
Re: SCX10.2 Honcho vs Jeep Wranger The CRC Jeep is basically the same as all the other SCX10IIs but you get a different transmission case with metal gears and a fairly detailed body. The Honcho gives you new 1 piece axle housings, 1 piece ring gear/spool assemblies (which are sintered, not machined), plastic links (which are pretty good), a 1 piece battery tray/servo mount, and the same transmission case as the CRC Jeep. Dogbones instead of universals is the big downgrade from the other SCXII versions. The Honcho is supposed to have plastic gears but many people, including myself, have got the metal gears with their trucks. Obviously the body, bumpers, wheels, and tires are different as well. The Jeep also uses the same Tactic TTX300 3 channel radio as pretty much every Axial RTR while the Honcho gets the spectacularly awful Tactic TTX200 2 channel radio. Read more about my hate for that radio in my thread: http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/axial...off-entry.html. I think that about covers it. |

Re: SCX10.2 Honcho vs Jeep Wranger The Wrangler has quite a few upgrades over the Honcho. Most important IMO are the hardened machined gears and lockers in the axles and the front axle has universals. Universals allow for much better steering. The Honcho has sintered metal one piece ring gear/lockers. They're not going to be as strong as hardened steel, but if you aren't going to put big power through it or drive it pretty hard they will most likely be ok. |
Re: SCX10.2 Honcho vs Jeep Wranger You are also paying extra for the licensing of the Jeep name. |
Re: SCX10.2 Honcho vs Jeep Wranger I have ran my Honcho to hell and back, its still ticking besides small fixes and upgrades here and there. |
Re: SCX10.2 Honcho vs Jeep Wranger The Jeep also has lights right out of the box. Also the Jeep is touting to be waterproof as well. |
