Default SSD Diamond Axles Confusion

So Im ordering the rear set to go with my front set, and in the instructions it says it doesnt need the rear lockout. I dont understand how that could be possible, as I already have the lockout that you screw the gear into and dont see how the truck would work without it.

Can anyone explain what Im missing here?

Lockouts are the plastic pieces that come on the end of Axial axles. The SSD axles come with their own version to hold the outer bearing.

I think your confusing this with lockers which mount on the bevel gear, which you will need.
