Vader Products transmission skid

Has anyone tried these? They also have one they call the monkey version which moves the transmission a little bit more forward. I like how its flat on the bottom instead of the hang that exists on the stock one. Wondering how durable they are though.

I run them on all my rigs. They hold up great. They are made out of delrin. Had one in a rig for over 2 years and just light scratches.

Awesome. Im gonna try the monkey one, I have a bunch of RPM traxxas long rods that should handle the additional length quite easily.

I just installed one, but I find that the upper and downer links crash before the shocks compress fully on one side. I use SDD straight rod ends. Do you use the Axial type bent rod ends on the chassis rail? I suppose that gives those links a bit steeper angle?

Yeah I used the stock links and Axial rod ends on mine. It's really close but the upper and lower links don't touch.

Are you talking about the normal or the monkey one?

By the way, does this skid change the wheelbase noticeably?

Nope. I installed mine last night and the only adjustment I had to make was using the curved axial rod ends so the links wouldnt clash.

Or you you could raise the upper link mounts at the chassis a little, make brackets as needed, stronger and more common link ends. You can use Traxxas rod ends which are better plastic too. :)

I actually usually use RPM Revo rod ends. Same basic design as the Traxxas ones, but with RPM plastic, which I think is a better quality nylon. I need to find one that accepts a 4mm core and has that bend. I know the Axial ones will wear very quickly. When I had Revo ends on them I was getting the crashing, I could use some L brackets I have to move them up a bit, I might give that a try when the Axial ends wear.

TRX4 rod ends are burley and some ends are straight and some offset with 4mm inside for rodthreads. :)

Cool, Im going to look into them. RPM seems to be a bit behind on rod ends for some reason, they basically only have the revos and some weird ball cup ones. I like their nylon on my slash tho and wish they would make more.

SIDE NOTE: So I was looking into Delrin as a plastic and whether or not it can be 3d printed. Turns out it can! I found some, not sure how good the price is, https://gizmodorks.com/acetal-3d-printer-filament/

Thats 50$ for a roll when I usually pay about 15$ for a roll of PETG. Im gonna get some and see if I can print parts out of it myself. PETG is great for a lot of things, but its not as sturdy as you would need for something like a skid. Heres hoping this can be the holy grail of wear parts for 3d printing RC!
