Default Avoid SuperShafty for your shafts!

I just got ripped off and basically talked down to by AJ the one man shop that runs this shoddy shaft company. After trying anything in his power to twist my words and make it sound like it was my fault that his cast shafts were breaking at the pins, he refused to refund them and called his "customer pays shipping" and downgraded replacement parts that costs 10$ less "good customer service". If you are looking for a good set of driveshafts, dont go with this terrible second hand product, please just order from MIP directly or any of its other more reputable partners.

This guy called me to basically try and say I was being mean to him because he was giving me terrible customer service. Ive never heard such a crock of crap!

Sorry you are having a bad experience with this. What shafts gave you problems?

The Exclusive Bombproof HD MIP Drivelines. They are 70$ MIPs where the extra metal of the cups are machined away leaving only a small amount where the pins are. They look awesome, but they break at that pin. Ive had to send a piece back to them, I got a replacement, and that one broke the next time out. There is nothing crazy about my truck, but he wanted to blame it all on my truck as if there couldnt be a problem with the product.

I truly hope this is an isolated incident and you get taken care of. I am running a set of the exact same shafts on my little Toyota steel bed. My rig is on the heavy side and I am running pretty decent power through it. I have about 5 runs on the truck with no MIP issues..

Isnt the whole bombproof, a lifetime warranty?

  • THESE DRIVESHAFTS HAVE BEEN TORTURE TESTED BY US HERE AT SUPERSHAFTY.
  • ENOUGH THAT WE ARE CONFIDENT IN PLACING A WARRANTY ON THESE SHAFTS AGAINST BREAKAGE.
  • (Not so Fine Print - Warranty covers shafts against breakage, in normal 1:10 Scale use, We are confident, so we want you to be too)

I'm confused. Have you tried reaching out to MIP?

Yeah I'm confused by that as well because I've always heard it was a lifetime warranty.

I think Super Shafty modifies MIP driveshafts, if I remember correctly. In that case I doubt MIP would help out which is completely understandable.

According to AJ, MIP does not offer that warranty, only HE does. He modifies them while claiming no decrease in quality. I run either a 1900kv castle slate or a torquemaster pro 27t. Ive never had an issue with the wild boars, and I am a pretty careful driver. Anytime I notice that I may get bound down I back off and re position. While he offers a warranty he expects you to pay the shipping and to be on his timeline when something breaks. 2 weeks now this truck has been out of commission because of these breaks, which are always around the pin. Ironically the pin is in perfect condition.

He told me it was extremely unlikely that it was a bad batch, so I dont know what thats worth. Hopefully you dont have issues, and if you do maybe hell be more respectful to you.

Im gonna try reaching out to MIP but of course he said that wouldnt work. But they do say they are a licensed provider so maybe theyll help me out. I simply dont know what else to do other than try and charge it back on my card, which its a multi-month process.

Sorry you're getting shafted on this, Rek. I have yet to buy from one of the garage modifiers for apprehension of your situation. I'd buy from Codyboy with no fear but anyone else...I just don't know.

I hope you get something out of it rather than just a lighter bank account and a bad taste.

Yeah I guess its a lesson learned. I like to support small scale American companies, just on principle. Gotta give em a chance. I have been nothing but satisfied with Holmes' products, MIP is great(when its unmodified), and Im the kind of guy who gets his veg and fruits from the farmers market. Who knows, maybe SS will have a change of heart and make it right.

I guess I take that back, I use a lot of HH stuff...I don't think of him as a garage shop.

I think a key factor is Holmes has employees and isnt a one man shop.

Thankfully, I got a full refund including initial shipping today. I was worried I’d have to file a dispute but they went ahead and took care of it. Now I guess I’ll either get the stock MIPs or give Incision a chance. Any ideas?
