Default Bubbles 3.0

So Bubbles started life as "Old Blue" 3 years ago. SSD D60's under a custom frame and Wraith skid.4.3" Proline Tsl's and Axial bead locks. I originally built her as a memory lane build, and soon realized that my dreams for my first truck as a kid were much bigger. "Old Blue" went from mild, got bigger tires, (4.75"PB Growlers) then bigger tires yet (5.4"Proline Tsl's). This is where she earned the name "Bubbles. 3000kv 4 pole brushless, waterproof electronics and big mud tires I dove head first into every puddle and stream crossing I could find. My buddy Nicknamed her on the spot and the name stuck.
She had a second chassis for a bit, "Bubbles 2.0" but I was not happy with the performance and when I set the body on my Honcho, I knew from that moment that she needed her own Scx10II chassis. Project "Ding beat" died that day and "Bubbles 3.0" rose from the ashes.

This isn't a build thread per say, but more of a documentation for her adventures.

Stats'

Scx10II Raw Builders Kit,
J-Concepts 80's F150 trail body,
Kinexsis 4 pole 3000kv Brushless motor/esc combo,
Castle 10 amp Bec,
Hitec 5565 servo (Corosion X'ed),
Kit Icon shocks,
Pit Bull 4.75"Growlers,
Warn cti 9.5 winch
Spectrum dx4c,
"Marine" 4 ch reciever,
Rpm "wide" light bar.

Best part is I had all this sitting around so total cost was just the RBK, for $199.

Pictures.....

A thread is worthless without pictures.

So here we go.

Og build,

First trail run,

Second trail run and I tweaked the front bumper and got my first rock rash on the body.

These trail runs hooked my Buddy, HLDMYBR, and we built him a rig of his own, in the interim.

And a new bumper.

My buddy and I finished his new build and before we went out I swapped out to my PB Growlers.

The Bronco is a BEAST!

Another after shot....

She likes mud....

And another trail run...

Big tires, no lift.

Snow run at home.

Another river side run....

Earning the name...

Posing.

Running rocks.

Another run.....

A very wet run....

Stay tuned for "Bubbles2.0".

I cut a new chassis....

After only a few runs, I was not happy with it's nasty torque twist, and top heavy nature.

A nice snow run.

Wait for it.....

Bubbles 3.0 is here!

So I made the mistake of trying the body on my Honcho as I had said before.

The previous incarnations were plagued with constant break downs, usually drive shaft problems, and axle breakage. My Little Honcho had been performing flawlessly for two years and I had just built my Raw Builders Kit with a short wheelbase and attempted to fit a Dingo body with a wraith interior. I didn't like it. My F150 body fit so well onto my honcho, and the bumper matched my front end..... I had to do it.

Back to the Growlers, The largest tire I had that would fit in front of the stock sliders.

And her first trail run, just a quickie shake down cruise....

LIGHTS!

I got rid of the tailgate, and threw in some bedside mounts. The whole body pivots off of theses.

Next to old reliable....

I picked up a "blazer" bumper hoping it would work. It didn't, none of my winches fit and it was going to require too much work to get it up high enough to look right.

Having fun with my Nephew, and hooking my brother on crawlers.

Notice no bumper yet....

Cut some tiny bar mounts.

Trimmed up the front fenders for a bit more tire clearance.

An icy trail.....

Living up to her name!

And she is up to date....

The last trail run two weeks ago....

The fluorescent yellow tube contains my long marine antenna.

Since this last run, we have been stuck with snow almost every day, and single digit temperatures with wind...... So until next time gentlemen.....

(I use that term loosely)

Thank you Rider. One of my favorite trails is one of the closest to me. I have been 9 miles up it with my Honcho for a total of 18 miles round trip. Trip documented on this page. Trail Honcho, For Trailing

I started off not knowing where to go but it just takes some exploring of local trails and looking at the trail from a different perspective.

So Bubbles got a 2speed today, I have to button up some minor things, like finding the screw I dropped and reattaching the drive shafts. Going to run brushed for the run time and still have the wheelspeed of second when needed. HH BRXL is going in with a generic axial or rc4wd 27 t motor.

Out of boredom I cut the growlers to see if I cannot wake them up.

Pics later when I get home from work.

Lol yeah! Stupid screws.

Always 3s. I found that I get the same distance traveled with a 2200 3s as I do with a 4000 2s. So effiency is way higher, and you can never have too much power!

A sad picture....

I really need a new phone lol.

I might have to bring out my little 7mp canon Powershot

Is that from a rotary phone?
Just had to ask cause you never know what people use anymore. I'm a 3s guy myself, to many advantages not to use 3 over 2s. Still find people that like 2s and it baffles me but hey as long as they run who am I..

Well I got the driveshafts sorted yesterday.

Ended up with a traxxas driveshft up front, and the front WB driveshaft out back.

Dx5 Rugged is programmed, just need to bind the rx, get it in the reciever box, and waterproof the box.

A couple things I noticed is you can program the same button to do the same thing on the radio. A is throttle trim in stock configuration, And F is Brake rate. I disabled Brake rate and am using F as my shifter in Aux 1.

Awesome! Trails are starting to clear up, if only the rain would stop and dry out some but it's nice to be able to get out. Where did you go and how did bubbles do?
