Alignment & front setup

So this is the newest issue.

Axle is the correct size. Driveshafts are correct. All the links are to the stock spec and lengths.
But for some reason the axle is totally shifted and twisted to one side.

Any suggestions?

Thanks againhttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...b1bb8eed1f.jpg

What length shocks? They look way to long which would cause that

Re: Alignment & front setup

Same length as the stock shocks. I compared the two.

If I recall....100mm

I swear I read 100mm off the book.
Is the Kit and RTR different?

As far as I know. 90mm is standard scx10ii

Ok. Will grab some 90mm then. Thank you.

Looks like I got more parts to sell. Lol

Stock kit and RTR are 90mm. If you want to run those 100mm you'll need to extend your drag link and steering arm. Use a Jato rod end and trim it to whatever length you need.

So how do u find the length needed for different length shocks

Re: Alignment & front setup

It has nothing to do with shock length. It has everything to do with ride height. Usually adding longer shocks will increase ride height bit not always.

Here's an example.

I run 90mm height shocks but needed to shorten my drag and panhard because I actually run a lower ride height then stock. If I ran a higher ride height, I'd need longer panhard and drag links. Cycle your suspension throughout it's range and notice the axle shift side to side.

Run the shocks you want with your vehicle at the ride height you want, then adjust the length of the links

Re: Alignment & front setup

Trial and error. I usually try and center the chassis over the axle at mid compression/ride height.

If your chassis were centered over your axle at full extension like in your photo, you would would have the opposite problem at full compression...in would bind when compressed and the chassis would be way over the left side of the axle.

Put a full length Jato rod on and start from there...if it's too long, they trim neat and clean with a utility knife.

So with that...if I put on 90mm and follow the instructions in the kit...should it not be fine? Mine just seem way off.

Re: Alignment & front setup

It should be fine as long as the panhard mounting points on the axle and the chassis are in stock locations. I can't tell what aftermarket parts you have...If each are a bit off, that can exaggerate the problem.

Re: Alignment & front setup

I have been trying to keep the stock size parts (which hasnt been easy) so that it all lines up properly.

The shock mounts do have more holes in them though. I will try to find the part.

Re: Alignment & front setup

Just compress the suspension to mid stroke...roughly ride height and see where you're at. If you don't have Jato rod ends but just want to mess around tonight, unscrew the ends that are on there about halfway off and see where that puts the chassis. That will help you visualize what the longer rod ends will do.

Build it exactly as intended and assuming the engineers bothered to hit perfect alignment at that stock configuration, yes.

It's really easy.

1. Build your rig
2. Set your ride height
3. Adjust drag and panhard bar length at your desired ride height

Changed to the stock shocks 90mm, and it is still not very center...is that normal?

Are those aftermarket shock towers the same as the stock plastic? is the panhard mount in the same place as the stock one?
