Default Slop in the spur gear shaft in kit trans.

Anyone else have in and out slop in the shaft that the spur gear rides on? Everything is assembled as it shows in the manual. Is this normal?

It seems to be a known issue. Vanquish makes a replacement that eliminates the slop. I put one in my trans and it solved the issue.

Sure thing. Straight forward install too. Just make sure you keep track of the orientations of the gears inside. It’s easy to put them in backwards which may cause some binding issues. I learned the hard way and had to pull it al apart and correct my errors.

Yeah I've had this thing together and back apart again like 30 times now so I am pretty confident in putting everything back together lol.

Make hole thru the plastic spacer on the shaft for the unused hole and put a pin(part of a finish nail in my case) thru shaft and spacer solved the slop for me

I remember reading about that issue when the 10.2 Cherokee kit came out, so I ordered the VP top shaft when I pre-ordered my UMG10 kit, since it comes with the same transmission.

The shaft is able to as much as the pin in the gear is able to. Pin thur the spacer
held in by tape or shrink tube will completely eliminate the slop

I'll have to give that a try.

Everyone...hopefully Axial fixes the shaft and tightens up bearing pockets and endplay everywhere.

It is normal. Vanquish makes an improved shaft or you can just shim it to fix the issue. Ran mine for a solid two years and never had an issue
