Rear shocks with hard body?
 

Bought an LC70 body for my 10.2 and am wondering what to do about the rear shocks. What length shocks work for a drop bed if I mount the upper part of the shock forward on the frame? No shock hoop at all. Really don't want to cut holes in the bed to mount the body and I want the body to sit as low as possible on the frame to keep the COG happy.

I have mine sitting all the way flat (SCXii)., I have the shocks very close to optimal performance. May move them slightly closer so I have a like more resistance.
I’m already using the heaviest springs (internal), because being on such an angle, uses only a small portion of the spring movement (at a high pressure angle?).
This way doesn’t look too scale but neither does the cantilevered system.
Working on a rc4wd blazer next and have some 60 and 70 mm shocks coming in. Hoping to get more of a scale look[emoji1696].

Beware I’ve probably taken my shocks apart and adjusted resistance about 20 times now[emoji2357]

Couldn’t find the vid, where someone was using proline buggy shocks. Had them sitting almost straight up, attached to frame rails.

Also for my gig I have extra droop springs installed so the shocks won’t hang at full extension (keeping it looking fairly scale). Else at flex you’d have a 2” gap between your truck bed and wheels[emoji2961];)

I think if I installed them straight up and down that would limit flex a bit. If they are angled forward I can get a slightly longer shock in there and not limit flex so much. A good happy medium 8)

There's also the option to go leaf sprung too.

Dinky RC has been a bit spotty lately (some folks aren't getting their orders) so you might also consider using the Gmade cantilever shock setup from the GS02/Bom in its place. I have no idea how it would fit in a 10.2 but I'm sure it wont fit without some modding. Some of the Bom owners have removed their cantilever suspension so you may be able to find some cheaper than new potentially.

Look at the js customs cantilever setup. You can find it on Facebook. It’s a nice setup and you can run a few different shock lengths with it.

About 2 years ago I was searching for a cantilever kit and all I found was Dinky. The shocks it came with were very small and I could never get it to work like I wanted. About 2 months ago I found the JS Cantilever System recommended in an scx10ii group on Facebook. I ordered it and it works great on the bench. I haven’t crawled with it, but everything functions very smooth. You use the shocks you already have and it is superior to the Dinky RC kit I originally bought and tried to use.

I use the Dinky setup on mine and it gets plenty articulation and stays planted on most everything.
