Default UMG10 Doka Build

I was excited when Axial released the 6x6 unimog because I immediately saw the potential to make the original into a Doka. I picked the cab up at my LHS and set to work measuring, drawing up on fusion360, printing prototypes, re-drawing, and eventually printing final pieces to for the rear section. It’s a perfect fit and supports and hinges the 4 door cab just like the rear cage did on the original 2door cab.
I’m now preparing for paint.

Awesome. I wish I'd seen this before I bought the regular mog body. Great job!

Looks great. What color are you going to paint it?

Awesome idea!

I just spent most of the weekend watching Estonian mud-racing videos with these, Tatras, and some Volvos and Zils mixed in... (Google "Klaperjaht" for hours of fun!)

Definitely made me want to build something different.

I wanted to go with a color similar to the full scale example photo but I couldn’t find anything that I liked without trying to mix my own. I ended up picking a Tamiya mustard yellow. It looked like it may be a color you would see on one of these rigs.

Kanook, Great idea, looking good! Maybe some buttonhead screws under rear fenders to attach rollbar/bed pieces? Will you cut and bend some lexan to fit inside the tube bed? I've seen old Mogs in the greenish color you posted, kinda battleship blue/grey, mustard yellow, red, off-white and of course camo.

Durok, cool another Youtube stuff to watch!

I purchased some black styrene sheets to enclose the rear cage a little which i will probably use little screws to attach

Fenders and then the body painted. The roof will be painted white next.

I’m still waiting for my Knights Customs grill from shapeways but the body is ready to start attaching scale parts.

A little more work done today. Besides the grill that is being delivered I need to build some bed sides and a permanent spare tire mount

Btw. I need to make a simple tweak to the rear cage design and once done I’ll post the files on to Thingiverse so others can print their own.

Love it. And I’ll bet if you were in to either selling that printed cage or sending it out to folks with printers you’d have a few REALLY interested viewers. Pretty dang cool!

Good idea especially given portals for an even more scale build
