Default larger battery tray

What are you guys using for lipo batteries that are too large for the stock battery tray. My 3s batteries are just a hair too long to fit. Should I just knock off one end, or is there a better option.

I use to use a gens ace 3s 5400mah battery that fit perfect and lasted 3+ hours, but I have since flipped the tranny and now use 2200mah 3s batteries that still last a good hour and a half. the battery in the scx10.2 is a hard decision imo as the battery is what's meant to give it its weight up front over the axle but it's also high so somewhat of a double edged sword, especially when stock. I ended up going with the smaller lighter batteries and adding weight to the front in other ways. smaller batteries are also cheaper.

I use smaller lipos, still get couple hours run time and it crawls way better.

I'm not too concerned about ultimate performance. This is more of a scale thing for me at this point. I've got a hardbody on the way that will go on this or on my trx4 depending on how i like the lexan body. If i don't it's going to go to the trx4 and the scx10 will get the hardbody. If I need any weight down low i can probably con my boss into letting me make some stuff on the side over a Sunday when the shop is closed.

I had to pickup a new steering servo as my last unused 7955 is doa so i just got a smaller battery. What's the advantage to rotating the transmission? Weight moving more forward, or just actually doesn't look like the transmission is in backwards?
