My son wanted an Axial rig so we kept it simple and went for the RTR XJ. Out of the box it’s a pretty solid rig. ![]() Some SSD bumpers, metal sliders from CC Hand, Knight Customs rear light housing and some other such as inner fenders and snorkel. Axial roof rack, RC4WD steel wagon wheels and a spare tire. He and I did some free mods, lowered ride height, swapped the front springs out for some softer ones etc. we took some stock decals off and did a Jurassic Park inspired paint and decal theme. He loves it and I think it came out pretty nice and it’s awfully capable. Plans upcoming are winch and some scale accessories. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I'm NOT putting your rig down. Honestly, it looks really good. However, every time I see/hear-about a "Jurassic Park" inspired vehicle, as see it's a Jeep, I have to laugh internally. Even the movies totally screwed it up. If you read the book, you'll discover that the 'correct' vehicle isn't any Jeep, or a Ford Explorer, but is, in fact, a Toyota Landcruiser. There's a guy who works two businesses down from me, and has a Jeep Wrangler (his 'daily driver') that he swears is a one-off of the actual Jurassic Park novel vehicles...and I just laugh at him. ~ More peace, love, laughter & kindness would make the world a MUCH better place ![]() |

Kids these days are are fortunate to have cool toys like this. When I grew up my dad gave me a knife and some wood. Told me I could make whatever I wanted for my birthday. Love the details on that rig. Came out great.

Looks good, if it makes your boy happy, who cares if it's a Jurassic themed Dodge Omni, looks like a new family hobby has been born, and a fantastic one to get out and about, enjoy!

My son is 10. He couldn’t care any less what make or model it is. Or what the novel is based off of. He liked the XJ and he chose the theme. We both think it came out nicely. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Don’t tease with with a Dodge Omni. My dad had a black one with red interior when I was a kid. I loved it. Thanks my friend. I’ve been in this hobby a long time and my kids are very into so it’s fun regardless of paint scheme or scale accuracy. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Looking good. Who cares about a theme. Do what you want. Awesome your son loves the hobby. I think any kid is lucky to get a hobby grade rc truck. When I was i kid I wanted one really bad, never got one till I got old.

I missed this somehow. Looks great! Where did you get the decals? Are the red strips decals or paint? I might have to copy this idea for my 8 year old's rig. ![]() |

I found the decals on eBay from an original JP toy set. It was just a few bucks. I was happy with the score. I may have some left over if you can’t find any. The red is paint. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
