Default New to me Trail Honcho

I scored a TH off marketplace. Looks like its in decent shape and it is coming with a Mamba/ Slate motor combo.

Whats the recommended shock set up? Springs and oil?

I know I want to upgrade to links to metal, any recommendations for this? I don't mind buying individual parts but some kind of complete kit would be nice.

Anything I should look at specifically?

Thanks!

Congrats on the new truck!

Try consolidating your questions to one thread. Three new threads in this section in the same week won't earn you any friends. It's more likely to have people start ignoring your threads. Just a friendly tip.

Anyway, suspension is a personal preference. Traxxas TRX-4 GTS shocks are a great budget option. About $60 for the set on eBay and the shocks are great. Proline shocks look great, but I don't think they're worth the money. Suspension settings are such a personal preference. Use the included springs to start. 35wt oil is a good starting point for a lighter truck.

I prefer Vanquish Incision link kits. They are complete and relatively inexpensive: https://www.vanquishproducts.com/inc...10pc-link-kit/

Just drive it. Learn the truck. You'll find things that fail or need improvement. Or some things you'll want to change just to have the truck perform better for your needs. Most changes are personal preference. What works for me won't work for your driving style or your terrain.

Sweet action. Thank you very much. I will certainly try to consolidate my threads better. On other hobby forums for drones and helis, folks prefer separate threads for for specific questions to that individual topics can be searched. I know I’m still new and this is a great community so far and I don’t want to make ripples in the water. Thank you again for your help!

You're welcome! That's interesting how they prefer it differently over there.
