do these come with the shims you may need or where do I purchase those? I have read that it is not good for a trail truck but this is my only rig. |

You may or may not need to shim. I’ve built 3 axles, one needed shimming the others didn’t. I had some left over from a vanquish VS4 build Hang up and Drive |

I believe they come with a small shim. Like Mike, never used it. toyed with the idea but it made the diff too tight. I have now bought a couple of SSD OD gear sets and haven't needed to shim.

I strictly crawl. The latest rigs running these are my SCX10III, and my newer Sherpa build . Both are running more OD, with TGH parts on both Hang up and Drive |

Had to shim mine with the ar44 difs but not the ssd difs. Mine have never come with shims, but I bought a selection a few years ago as I use them quite a bit.

Yeah these do not include shims. I've never had a plastic axle that didn't require some shimming, I think everyone has different standards for shimming though. For me I want all side to side play eliminated on the ring gear/spool then I ensure there is some play between the pinion and ring gear but not too much by adjusting which side the shims go on. I use these shims https://www.amainhobbies.com/crc-7mm...cln4737/p53205 I have a few rigs that see some trail duty with overdrive, in the dirt I dont worry because the tires can slip. If on the other hand you're running down a long road or something then I'd be a bit more concerned in terms of wear and tear. Last edited by HumboldtEF; 03-10-2021 at 11:35 AM. |
