I built a nice Class 1 truck. Enjoyed the process and now want to build a second truck. This will be old hat to most of you, but all new to me. I will be using a SCX 10.2 Builders kit to build a Class 2 rig. Going to try to stay relatively budget friendly. Holmes Hobby CrawlMaster Sport 540 13T motor, Reedy SC480X ESC, Ecopower WP120T servo, Proline wheels and 4.75” Hyrax tires and using a JConcepts Ford Tucked body. Will also under drive the rear axle with the Vanquish 33T/8T ring and pinion. I have already found a lot of info on the forum on the kit. I want to thank you all in advance for tips and tricks you have shared! |

Sounds like a pretty solid project, the rbk is really hard to beat. I’ll be curious to see what you think about the tucked body. I was going to get one but couldn’t justify the shipping cost Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I just finished up an SCX10 II raw builders kit build and was pretty pleased with the kit and the process. Look forward to seeing yours take shape.

Taking my time. Enjoying the build. I completed both axles and all the links. As listed above I installed an under-drive ring and pinion in the rear. This should give me an approximate 9 to 10% front overdrive. The Hot Racing diff cover on the front axle is 48g and the only weight I intend to use to start. Used an Axial black diff cover on the rear, not a fan of the red ones. I also received my steel 1/10 plates from the RC Plate Shop! |

Solid! i have built a few of these raw builder's kits ![]() As i am sure you know.. those shocks will leak but they do perform well and you'll have sometime before you get tired of re-filling! |

Thanks to all who have replied. Flicker08, the body looks good in person, no paint yet, I’m going with Candy Blue w/ Metallic Silver backing. JimK, I will be posting updates and I’m sure asking questions. Food2000, I’ve heard about the issue with the kit shocks but I’m going to start out with them anyway. Till I run out of this bottle of fluid! ![]() ScaleLifeNewbie, thanks for the reinforcement of my choices! |

Shocks! I’ve never dealt with e-clips this small. But I got them done. That’s all I’m doing tonight. How do you guys like my shock rack? |

Back to work for a little while this evening. First shocks look good after setting overnight. No leaks but of course really no pressure on them. Another photo of my USPS/RPP Hobby shock rack! ![]() Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Only had a little time this evening so just built the drive shafts and attached the assembly to the skid. I really had to bear down on the transmission screws to get the unit to seal. Used the strip of paper tip to set the gear mesh. I used it on my first build and on multiple motor swaps. Seems to work well. I’m amazed each time I take apart or build one of these kits. The engineering/design thought that went into each piece is really cool. Just the drive shafts and all their parts are trick little pieces. |

I love your CAD... Cardboard Aided Design, lol Imo the Raw builders kit is one of the best kits I have built, very function oriented. It looks like the electronics you chose are going to perform well too. |

Complete except for setting/adjusting the transmitter EPA’s, EXP’s, etc. and the body! It runs! The motor rotation is backwards so I need the re-solder the leads. But I’m pleased! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Took it outside for a 20 minute run after setting up the transmitter. Dialed in the steering end point adjustments and sub trim. Also dialed in a little negative exponential in the throttle curve to allow finer control while crawling. No body yet, but I’m really happy with how it runs! Body work next. I’m not good it it so wish me luck! |

Doesn’t look to bad. Some light spots where I went to thin on the candy blue. I wanted the metallic silver to sparkle thru and my have gotten too cute. But I’ll take it for my fist lexan job in many years ![]() ![]() Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Last edited by SloDon; 04-04-2021 at 10:56 PM. |
