Sheesh they're still doing this round side flat side thing! thats a hold over from the SCX10.2 which had a similar gear that was easy to get wrong and the manual did not show it either.

Nice! Thanks for sharing. I did a little trouble shooting earlier and realized it was only happening under load as well. I wouldn’t have figured out this fix though. Going to tear into it soon.

Maybe it helps them to properly form the gears using the sintered metal method?

Well I’ll be damned. I tore my transmission apart to put the gears in the correct orientation and the clicking stopped. The transmission is much quieter now. I never realized the hearts weren’t completely symmetrical.

Somehow I seem to have dodged the 50/50-90 rule...I have no clicking.

The large gears in the four portals also have the same square/round setup...after checking, I was 50/50 blind luck on those when I first assembled it.

Hey Rich, or anyone else on here. I tried looking online but didn’t see anything. Was just curious if there was any sort of eta for different wheelbase links for the 10.3? I’m thinking about putting a 69 blazer body on mine but realized it’s 12”

Hemistorm dropped a video on the scxiii today finally. Basically nothing new, but i love to hear him explain things and I can’t wait to see his paint. I’m glad he’s finally back to making vids.

I realize nothing had been added to this thread for almost a year...but...REJOICE SCX10-III (and Ryft & Capra) owners. We FINALLY have a realistic, and better, option than the SERIOUSLY-problematic SX107 servo. A could weeks ago, PowerHobby announced their new 59MG Micro Digital Servo, designed SPECIFICALLY to replace the SX107 servo used in the the Capra's & SCX10-III's dig, as well as the Ryft's & SCX10-III's 2-speed transmission. While I don't have an SCX10-III, I do have two Capra (one with dig), as well as the new Ryft Kit...so, I ordered 4 of these.

Mine arrived yesterday (along with a spoon-to-be-released battery for the Losi Mini-T 2.0 & Mini-B, which I get to "test"), so I decided to build the transmission for my new Ryft Kit, and see how well it fit...and, it fits like a glove.

The motor is coreless, worth the gears being a combination of steel & Ti. Dimensions are 23mmx12mmx27.5mm (essentially, spot-on equal to the SX107). It operates on 4.8V-8.4V, with the following specs for 6.0V & 7.4V (the two most common):

6.0V - 0.11sec & 80oz-in/5.8kg-cm
7.4V - 0.09sec & 95oz-in/6.8kg-cm

PowerHobby had them listed on their own site, as well as through their eBay store. From what I understand, even though they listed the servo as fitting the SCX24, it does NOT fit it. For the SCX10-III & Capra, I know a lot of people have used the Reef's 99, and many have tried (some successfully, some unsuccessfully) using the Power HD TR-4...but, we now have a better, faster, and (compared to the Reef's 99) less expensive option.

Good info. Thanks!

I don't see this servo on their site. Do you have a link?
