Default Simple trick for trans gears shimming

Grabbed a new Gladiator a few weeks ago. Tore it all apart to check assembly on everything and put more grease in preassembled trans. I am pretty picky about such things. Everything actually looked pretty good. The trans just needed more grease on all the gears IMO.

The only thing so far on the whole truck I didn't love was the preset gearing/mesh on the motor plate. While it is a awesome idea and pretty genius, The stock 14t pinion was quite a bit tighter meshed with the spur than I care for.

I wanted to run an 11t with my brushless setup for super smooth low-end. But even installing a 11t in the preset holes, it still meshed tight with the spur.

So I used this old trick I've used on many other applications.
A little HVAC aluminum tape was perfect for getting that just right bit of clearance between the gears.

How this helps if anyone noticed the same issue

Neat little trick, have to remember this for future use

We should have a tips and tricks thread in the scx10.3 forum for stuff just like this

Thanks for the info!

I've been running my RTR but am going to go through the driveline with grease this weekend.

Still frustrated with the stupid servo issues though. It was nice having a working 2spd for one whole day.

Oopsie! Over packed the driveline. I need to scoop a bit of grease out.
