Default Static rear ride height

I just added a Hot Racing aluminum rear bumper. I replaced the rear shock oil with 60wt, but the static height leaves only about 1/4 of travel. I have to give the rear a ton of preload to get it to not sag. Do you all have any suggestions? What is the negative effect of running a lot of preload? I am new to the crawler world.

My preload is almost turned all the way down, and I also put 60wt oil in it. It still works well on the trails, but I would prefer a slightly stiffer spring just so I could take a bit of preload out.

Try swapping the springs around front to rear, I had mine backwards when I built it, swapped front to rear and all is good now

Try new springs. I think Traxxas is one of the few guys that make different stiffness springs options for their shocks, which is part of the reason why I like GTS shocks so much. Maybe try a Traxxas spring, should fit your shock but I cant be sure. Get a couple of stiffnesses and test around for the right one.

Axial makes a bunch of different rate springs, but I can't see you needing them, like I said above, once I put the front springs on the front and the rear on the rear all is good.

im also running a 4000mah 3s long battery pack in the rear battery tray so my rig is a bit heavy on the rear end
