SCX10 III Early Ford Bronco 1/10th 4wd RTR Are these going to live in this forum or somewhere else since they have straight axles and should have been called the SCX10 IV? :ror: |
Re: SCX10 III Early Ford Bronco 1/10th 4wd RTR 1 Attachment(s) I tore mine apart and made it closer to the Stroppe Baja Broncos that Axial mentions in their description: “As the first sport-utility vehicle from the Ford Motor Company, the Bronco has become an icon of off-road history. In 1965, race car builder Bill Stoppe assembled a team of first-generation Broncos for long-distance off-road competition. They competed in the Mint 400, Baja 500, and the Mexican 1000 (later renamed Baja 1000).” Still a few more things to do, but now torn apart to replace all of the electronics with Holmes/Castle and a Reefs servo winch. I managed to get VP Rigid Q Series headlights in the stock housings as well… |
Re: SCX10 III Early Ford Bronco 1/10th 4wd RTR Looks awesome, I love the slot mags too!!! |
Re: SCX10 III Early Ford Bronco 1/10th 4wd RTR The Early Bronco has the look for sure, and House you took it to the next level. An Oly version would be cool too. Being an RTR it won't get much respect around here... but the typical upgrades apply. I put shorter 90mm shocks in, and will overdrive the front and drop one on the pinion. Replace electronics as it needs it... other than that keep it cool stock. Its top heavy, but still does ok, and it is a cool trail truck. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...720&fit=bounds |
Re: SCX10 III Early Ford Bronco 1/10th 4wd RTR 1 Attachment(s) Nice. Yeah, not into the RTR electronics even though these aren’t that bad supposedly. It is getting a Crawlmaster Magnum, BRXL, and SHV800. Should be an improvement. Love Big Oly, but didn’t feel like making a wing to make it look correct. I want to put a driver in, not sure what will be sized right. Also may put RC4WD PRP seats in since these seats don’t look like correct stock ones anyway and are super heavy. Not sure if I am going to cut the hood open to see the coyote motor or not, but I painted it anyway. Also torn on dig, two speed, or both… Two speed seems like it could be fun… |
Re: SCX10 III Early Ford Bronco 1/10th 4wd RTR I have changed a few things (shocks, spacers, looks way better now) and have new body on the way, paint keeps chipping (crap primer lesson learned) ill post a new pic asap. https://bnz05pap001files.storage.liv...91&height=1118 https://bnz05pap001files.storage.liv...85&height=1189 |
Re: SCX10 III Early Ford Bronco 1/10th 4wd RTR I really shouldn't be looking at this thread. Both of my LHS' have these in stock, and I've got $600 that's burning a hole in my pocket... |

I was just thinking the other day, that I haven’t seen many build threads on these yet. Look forward to seeing more on them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Re: SCX10 III Early Ford Bronco 1/10th 4wd RTR Yeah, it does seem a bit overlooked. Axial has been releasing a lot of vehicles, so it makes sense that an RTR would get lost in the crowd, at least among this forum. My LHS' also had several of these in stock, so it seems demand for them isn't super high. At Xmas last year, you couldn't find a UDR unless you were trading body parts. I tend to end up with unpopular vehicles, so it seems proper. This is my first SCX chassis, and I'm stoked on it. I plan to swap the 3rd channel from Dig to 2 speed once I open the box. |
Re: SCX10 III Early Ford Bronco 1/10th 4wd RTR Merry Christmas to yourself Fallen! |
Re: SCX10 III Early Ford Bronco 1/10th 4wd RTR Thanks House! I'm not usually too amped about Christmas, but this year's a bit different. I really want to open the box, and see this model in person. I see you colored your tire's letters. I usually use Sharpie paint pens for that and do 2 or 3 coats. Have you found something longer lasting? The Sharpie paint pens only last 5-10 batteries before they look so bad that I have to re-do them. |
Re: SCX10 III Early Ford Bronco 1/10th 4wd RTR I used a Dykem paint pen, but I’m sure they will eventually wear off as well… |
