Default Casco Bay's Early Bronco Build

I've been on a roll lately with installing larger and wider axles on my 1.9 builds. I follow the 1:1 trend and add loads of weight down low, making my trucks wider.

I bought a take-off body and 10-III frame as a base for this build. Then, I purchased axles from Redcat for the Wendigo/Marksmen. Since they are 3-link front models, these axles would work well on the 10-III 3-link front.

To make these axles work and to have correct geometry, I used a mix of various length M6 links from Axial to keep this Bronco planted. The Panhard mount on the axle isn't ideal, so I removed the material to keep it from binding on compression.

The steering angle on the Wendigo/Marksman is weak and far from Ackermann. So, I shaved material where the knuckles hit the axles to improve this. I'm still experimenting with parts to make it accurate, and zero Ackermann.

I'm pleased with the result, though. This larger than 1/10th scale body looks at home on wider axles and 2.2 IMO.

Articulation is on another level, even with the thick swaybar.

More pics soon with it on the rocks.

Build sheet:
  • Spektrum SR6280
  • Spektrum RC Firma 2-in-1 (2300Kv)
  • Spektrum SX108 (for dig)
  • SSD RC driveshafts (mix and match from different models to compensate)
  • SSD Narrow front winch bumper (winch soon)
  • GMade 103 XD Piggybacks (w/ progressive rate springs)
  • Club 5 brass hexes
  • Vanquish Method 2.2s
  • Vanquish 2.2 wheel weights
  • Axial Falken Wildpeak 2.2s
  • Reefs swaybar arms
  • Custom swaybar torsion bar (2.58mm tool steel)

After trimming the body further to clear the 2.2s and after some testing and tuning, I'll share more. All of my builds are "work in progress"

nice build, I have mine getting close, 10.3.

How does the 2300 2 in 1 go? I just ordered one for another 10.2 build or may put it in my 10.3.. undecided.
