Default Locked Up's Wraith

Woohoo!

Came in today and I just got a chance to open it.

I'll get some batteries for it tomorrow and will try to get some action shots for yall.

My intention is to let everyone that shows up at the next CTX scale comp drive this bad boy ....

Some light updates to the Wraith from a few weeks ago that I forgot to post up.

I swapped in an FXR so I could run 3S. I only have 3S batteries and didn't want to risk any damage to the AE-2. I now know a lot of people are running their Wraith on 3S but at the time I did this swap I didn't know people were running their AE-2 on 3S with BECs and not roasting them. Anyway ... the FXR and a CC BEC are installed in the rear box. This box will eventually be disguised as a tool box.

Up front I used the stock box with a little modification so I could squeeze in a 2200mah #s Lipo. The interior flaps got bent back a hair but that's about it. I just used a strip of plastic for the battery "tray" and it's held in with velcro straps. I'll be adding in some sort of wheel wells to help disguise the battery as well.

I toyed around in our front planter then took it to Somerville Dam for some rock action and some high speed running. After a little playing I ended up slamming the suspension by moving the spring collars up to that the suspension has more droop. It takes the high speed stuff much better now.

On the want list for now are some alloy knuckles, a winch and a front 3 link. Also I'm thinking of some new some new wheels for crawling and keeping these for high speed bashing.

How easy is it to get at the battery? Why would you want 3 link for the front?

Battery is easy to get to. I just pop off 2 screws on the hood. Planning on hinges there to make it even easier.

I want to 3 link the front so I can mount the servo in the chassis (more scale points) and have it work properly. I already have a design in mind too ...

AS A JOKE .... I got to test out some prototype axle shafts for "someone" this weekend and in order to make sure I delivered the maximum amount of abuse possible to the shafts .... I present to you a Wraith Monster truck:

Seriously, I beat the snot out of it and had a blast doing it.

I do not recommend this setup for anyone using normal parts.

AND if you are interested in a set of the wheels .... let me know.

Looks like 3.8's with Trenchers. Gotta have some horsepower to push those around the sandbox.

You going to handle those, Patrick?

Yes, Yes and Yes.

Not sure. I'm trying to keep the store to "scale" items but these are pretty fun.

This reminds me of the hood ratz running around in there 4x4 vehicles with 26in rims. Looks kinda funny imo but may very well be fun to drive.

Oh I agree ... It does look hoody ... or hooodie? ah, you know.

Really just fun to play with though, I had all the neighborhood kids wanting to drive it... and their dads too.

LOL, pull the trenchers off and put some rubber bands around the wheels, throw them on you H2 scaler and it will look like the locals here in Houston with 30" chrome wheels on their hummers.

Can't wait to see what else scale items you going to make to throw on your truck. I will be keeping a eye on the store for some great scale parts.

A couple of things went in this evening.

Wheels, Rings, M2 hardware & Acorns

Slipper (will go in tomorrow), overdrive, VP shafts, FI spool and M3 hardware.

Front end almost done (going to "treat" the front diff cover so it will stay off for now).

With a set of hubs off the H2 (for now)

A taste of the M3 stuff ....

Rest of the pics:

Did a little mod to the front diff cover so I could get it back on.

Here it is before "surgery"...

I started with an x-acto knife to remove the nubs.

You will want shave them off as flat as possible....

Next I used a mini drill press to make some 1.6M holes (drill size for M2 tap).

I also started a tap in there for a few turns but it's probably not necessary. After you drill the holes, clean up any boogers with your x-acto.

Here is the cover with some of our Locked Up RC M2x1 Scale hex bolts with the MCZ finish. I think it looks great! While I was at it, I replaced the binder screws for the inner C's and rear lockouts and shaved the top of my front axle truss. Much cleaner I think.

Subscribed... I'm loving my FI Spools. The centered RC4WD axle shafts fit in it so tight... There is absolutely no play there, and only a little play up front with the VP VVD's.

Got some new tires in for the Wraith!

Decided I liked the small ones enough that I went ahead and got the big daddy size of the Baja Claws!

More coming on this soon, I promise.
