What's a good crawl/trail ratio for the pinion and spur running a 35t HH Torque Master Expert?

When I ran a 35t motor I had 84/16 spur/pinion. Was fast enough for trail running. An still able to crawl good too.

Where is everyone setting their caster for crawling and trails? I set mine all the way back like the instructions say but that makes my tie rod hit the servo horn.

You have the tie rod mounted to the bottom of the steering arms, right?

I think I figured it out. I bought a used RCbros servo horn but it must be the long one. For now I've raised my servo up a bit and all is well.

Big thanks goes out to Harley for all his RC knowledge. I was out of RC cars for 15 years, the Wraith is my re-intro back into the sport and his threads and video's made it real easy!!!

Fitting Traxxas Bigbore XXL to my Wraith, with Level3 drop kit. What have you guys used to fasten them to the top shock mount? The hole in the cap is smaller than stockers and the bushing that came with the drop kit fits the stockers, but no these Bigbores. Thought of using Traxxas shoulder screws, but they doesn't leave the necessary clearance.

You can fit a ball end from a traxxas rod end in the big bores.

THX. DLUX FAB has some nice ends to these shocks. Might be trying those...

One other problem is that the rear upper links is hitting the bottom edges of my interior plate when fully compressed/flexed. Have anybody else experienced this, or could I possibly have mounted them wrong? I've fitted XXL Big Bores with Level3 droop kit. It also compresses very much in the front, so that the cage rests on my servo before the shocks bottoms out.

I'm thinking of replacing the stock motor and esc on the Wraith I just got in trade with the Tekin FX-R esc and Tekin HD 35T motor. I want to have slow crawling with some zippy throttle blips and decent trail riding speed that's not to slow. Would this work with the stock trans gearing? Any help would be appreciated.

Had to trim the corners off mine, reached a set of dykes up there and cut them off.

I bought my Wraith before I found this site so I made some modifications based on the info from Justin and Chris S. from Axial, Great guys, and the guys at Hobby Town. If this is the wrong place, I apologize. This is where the mod. talk is and the guys that would know. Here is what I have so far. I have also added solid aluminum rods to the inside of the drive shafts.

Axial Wraith RTR

Truck Base : Stock

ESC: Stock

Motor(s): Matrix pro Lathe 55T

Servo(s): Stock

Trans: Spur: 48DP-13T Pinion 32DP-13T = 51.48 gear ratio

Axles: Stock with spacers.

Tires: Stock

WB: Stock

Overall Width: 12 1/2" outside tire to outside tire

Diff clearance: 1 3/4"

Center Chassis clearance: 2 3/4"

Overall height: 9"

My goal is to have a competition worthy Wraith. I need to know if I'm on the right track to add more or do I need to redo something I have already done.

Thanks

I purchased a Wraith kit almost 18 months ago to get back into the hobby, I also ordered some upgrades which took a month to arrive. By the time they arrived life came along and it sat in an unopened box until today.
I am about to assemble the drive shafts but I am confused.
My kit came with 2 each long and short internally splined shafts (tubes) and 2 each long, medium and short externally splined shafts. Which of these 3 do I use and where on the truck do the long and short shafts go.
I did a quick search of the forum with no luck but no I did not go through all of this thread.
My apologies if this is the wrong area to post in.

Use the two longest parts. I've modfied mine according to a great write-up on axialracing.com. Google "axial drive shaft mod". Should take some more abuse..

You know HARLEY, you're costing me a week's pay... a week's pay in AFGHANISTAN! Of course, better to do it right and avoid spending two weeks' pay in Afghanistan.

Good Stuff!

These expenses are similar to my JEEP expenses.
