Your build is looking great so far. I could'nt tell what shock cap mod you were talking about on the front shocks. Any other pics?

Thank You for the kind words and just for you:

You cut the eyelet off of the top of the Traxxas big bore aluminum shock cap. Then you drill and tap it for a 3mm screw. I use red loctite to seal the 3mm screw in the cap and attach a short Traxxas Rod End Part # 2742X. I have them in stock already but have not added them to the web site yet.

Stock Wraith Transmission taken apart:

Rear Case half that is for the Axial Dig Unit. I will wait and see if Axial actually releases the dig since they haven't released the cut brake for the XR-10, so you never know. If they release the dig, I will evaluate at that time the need for a rear trans output set up to handle Traxxas Maxx Shafts or not.

The next round of Crawler Innovations Maxx shafts is nearly ready. I have been helping out at the machine shop trying to get them caught up this week. The C.I. REAR High Clearance links are done along with more high clearance links like the ones used on this Wraith build.

Maybe others knew, but I did not, the AX-10 Trans Case and Wraith Trans Case are different. Pictured below is the Wraith front case and AX-10 rear case

Pictured below is the AX-10 front case and the Wraith Rear Case. It's only one mounting hole, but it's a crucial one:

AX-10 Trans Housing, Wraith Spur Gear Cover, and C.I. 6mm Maxx Trans outputs:

You can see that a Maxx Yoke still clears the Spur Gear Cover. Current gearing is 87 Spur and 16 Pinion:

Here is a picture of my skid plate. If you focus on the lower links and where they mount to the skid, you'll notice that I removed some of the skid to allow the links room to freely move.

The drive shaft follows the link nicely:

Looking good. Hope you are setting me some parts back. I'm going to swap out the trans in mine as well so I can run the max shafts. Electronics tray is gonna clean up and simplify a lot of peoples builds.

I finally got this running last Friday night. I got tired of waiting to drive it. Our local club has been meeting every Saturday morning at a local park so I brought it out last Saturday.

5 3/4" Tall Cut N Shut Panther Cobras.
They work awesome!

Everything under the hood nice and clean. 4S 1300 Mah Lipo:

I decided to give the RC4WD CVD's a try:

Let me start by saying, the fit and feel of these RC4WD CVD's when first installed was good and it definitely smoothed out the front turning. Now if you run them with short tires, 2S voltage and be nice to them, they will probably be fine.

That said, my experience with them on 4S and 5 3/4" tall was disastrous from the first time they had power to them.

1. The long side CVD pin broke in the first 30 feet. Not even 15 seconds of drive time and a CVD broke pin. Thankfully a Traxxas pin I had in my box fit perfect on diameter, but was a little long. I went ahead and used pliers to attach the ring around the pin.

2. The short side CVD pin lasted into the second battery pack before it broke. I replaced the pin and finished the second battery pack.

3. We came home and my son ran a third battery pack at the Crawler Innovations compound. That's when the long side CVD shaft broke.

4. I didn't run the truck for the first time until Saturday night when it broke the short CVD on the fourth battery pack.

I put the stock axle shafts back in and we have run 9 battery packs on them with no issues.

A customer brought over a bunch of used parts to sell for him and this motor was in the collection. I checked to see if it would fit in the wraith since it looked about the scale size. After some modification of both the motor and chassis, this bolted to the C.I. wraith electronics tray no problem.

I was able to still mount the receiver and the light kit around/under the motor to still keep a clean look.

Nicely executed!
Thanks for testing the CVDs.
Diggin' the white delrin links.
Noob Q, is there an advantrage to running the shocks with the body on the downside?
Oh and I remember White Lightnings, wouldn't it be worth more if the tires were white rubber?
