Default Servo issues and a clueless newb

So I got my Wraith today and there seems to be a servo problem. From the second I turned it on, the wheels have trouble turning, or won't turn. I tested it initially in the air with no weight on the tires and the radio could not turn the wheels. The throttle worked, but the steering is intermittent to non-existent. It'll work ok for a few seconds, and then stop turning, or snap back mid-turn. Is this a servo problem, a radio issue, or something else?

I figured that since it wasn't running properly, I'd go ahead and install the Vanquish steering upgrades and Chubs and knuckles while I wait for the Hitec 7950 server I ordered the other day. I hit another snag when I tried to remove the axle (AX3036) from the knuckle. I broke a hex wrench using it to immobilize the axle while I tried to unscrew the nut from the other side of the knuckle. Isn't this nut what I have to remove? What tool do people use to get this open? Is there a trick that I'm not getting?

Finally, on the Vanquish steering link and tie rod, they both bolt onto the steering arm of the knuckle? It is different from the stock set up where the tie rod attaches to the steering link, right? Should I install the red steering extensions that came with the Vanquish knuckles and do I attach the tie rod and steering link to this?

Thanks in advance for the help. I've read a dozen post of people installing the steering upgrades without seeing any mention of these problems? I've never been considered mechanically inclined, and attempting these simple upgrades is alot harder I expected.

Thanks again,
Sasquatch

Default dual rates

Turn the dual rate knob on your controller up to the max, then it will work. Mine was the same out of the box.
