Been thinking about this for a while and decided to finally take it on. Modified a set of XR universals.

Was actually pretty easy but time will tell how well they hold up. All I did was take .750 out for the short side. Use a piece of 3/16 tube or rod and drill it out to match the diameter of the axle. Sleeve the two halves and weld or braze back together. Same for long side but you only make one cut and sleeve it to extend it. Here's the trick though. You need to make sure the sleeve does not interfere where the link mount screws go through. I held the shaft up and marked it with a sharpie so I would know where to stop the sleeve.

Now I can use my stock stuff to mock up the rear end for 4ws.

Loving the mods on the universals. Can't wait to see how it all works out. Looks killer so far.

Thanks for the compliment. Interested myself to see if the axles will hold. Just waiting on axial to release theirs.
Got a spare chassis to use as a frame jig for tube work and panels so I can put mine back together an play while I'm designing parts. Played around a little last night.

Might have missed it but what is your total width with the Boggers and Wraith axles?

I'll double check when I get home, but I want to say with the wheels and traxxas hexes it only added a 1/4 over stock. I'll get an exact number this evening.

Alright Shane, looks like 12" outside to outside. That's with the traxxas wide hexes, and the rc4wd wheels.

I got a fever and the only cure is more Wraith.

Haha. Well it's gonna be a surprise for my son next month for his birthday. It's killing me having one that I can play with, but not be able to play with. I'm intentionally not soldering a deans on it for that reason right now. Mine is going to be a four seater, so his is going to be a two seater fast back. More on that later.

I remember those days. Back when mine was round that age. You break it you fix it. Got to start them young.

He will be 8 this year and gets totally serious when he drives now. This is his scaler.

It's truly a blessing. When he isn't playing with the toys he wants to be doing the real thing. From back in the day.

My old 1:1 had a marlin doubler with twin stick and TH350. I would put the truck in low, low and first, put him in the driver seat and either sit in the back or get out and walk beside it. Hell his powerwheels jeep was faster, but he thought he was king of the world. Sittin on 42's with a small block pumping 420hp at the wheels and the smell of 110 octane.

That's AWESOME! The only thing better than a little guy is a COOL little guy that likes trucks and guy stuff. When mine sees a semi or a truck now he makes the sound "psst tseees" (the air brakes letting go) Now that, is a real man in the making!

Back to the project. Started work on the CMS/ winch mount. Probably all I get done on it this weekend. Put a radius on the exposed edges to dress it up a bit. Will attach with two front screws and the four screws for the old bumper supports.
