Havent had that happen but have had the dogbone come out of the c cup and locked everything up and caused a tranny gear to fail.

deeper in the cup wont help....its like there needs to be a set screw in the end of the axle to hold the pin in place

Aren't the pins press fit into the dogbone end? If so you may have had enough stress on it to wear and get sloppy.

because on full turn the pin comes out of the cup causing it to bind. deeper in the cup will correct this

From the sounds of what the OP is saying the pin actually came loose from the dogbone itself.

Correct. You need to get that axle replaced, there isn't going to be another easy fix for it.

Center the pin and put a dab of red locktite on it. Let it sit for a day before you use it. I've done this on a TLT dogbone before. It's worth a try.
