Simply search "XVD" in this section and you will find several examples of people using them including myself. See my build thread for more info. |

| Let me start by saying, the fit and feel of these RC4WD CVD's when first installed was good and it definitely smoothed out the front turning. Now if you run them with short tires, 2S voltage and be nice to them, they will probably be fine. That said, my experience with them on 4S and 5 3/4" tall was disastrous from the first time they had power to them. 1. The long side CVD pin broke in the first 30 feet. Not even 15 seconds of drive time and a CVD broke pin. Thankfully a Traxxas pin I had in my box fit perfect on diameter, but was a little long. I went ahead and used pliers to attach the ring around the pin. 2. The short side CVD pin lasted into the second battery pack before it broke. I replaced the pin and finished the second battery pack. 3. We came home and my son ran a third battery pack at the Crawler Innovations compound. That's when the long side CVD shaft broke. 4. I didn't run the truck for the first time until Saturday night when it broke the short CVD on the fourth battery pack. I put the stock axle shafts back in and we have run 9 battery packs on them with no issues. |

Well, that pretty much sums up the durability of them...

4s on a 550 tekin brushless and my XVD's are still in one piece. I do see grooves in the pins and the slot in the ball wearing more than I like. My stock front dog bones didn't last long before the bound up and twisted both front axles. With solid steering links and desent stops, the dogbones may have lived. Lots of testing on pavement and log piles, but the front end is usually in the air. |

I am running them on mine with a Trx Titan 21t, 87/18 gearing, Pl tsl super swampers with 7oz in each front on 3s and I have about 25 packs through them and they are holding strong...knock on wood some of the pics above are making me not so confident in them. The steering is better lock to lock as the dogbones were popping out on me on full steer. |

Well both front shafts let go this weekend. Haven't torn it apart yet, but I'm guessing the necked down areas broke. |

These axle shafts need to be the same smaller diameter the entire length. It's not that the small area is too small, it the fact that having the one small area forces all the twisting action to happen in that one area.

| Or a rounded taper area neck down instead of sharp angles that create stress risers.

The thin factory axle allows too much twist reducing the entire axle size might result in the same issue. Mine lasted about 1 1/2 packs before a pin snapped. I'm only running a 7t puller on 3 cell. Will be interesting to see what the Tekin T8 does to them. | |
