I just purchased the 11t crawlmaster. I hope it will crawl and have more top end than stock. I'm gonna run a mamba max 3s 2000mah pack with the stock 48 p for now but what gearing should I run?

I don't know if you'll get more top end then the stock (both on 3s) but it will be close. I wouldn't gear it any higher than stock, I am running the stock ration but in 32p (60/15).

What about a motor for those of us that don't want to or cant afford brushless? There seem to be almost no brushed motors around anymore other than crawling ones and I don't want to go that slow. What is a good option? I just want a motor to replace the stock that is of better quality, and slightly higher turns. I remember Kyosho used to make their 22t magnetic mayhem but I can no longer find that motor.

currently:
-Graupner speed 600 race 7,2v with soft-iron mantle(=johnson 550 with short axle and cooling-fan 15 or 17 turns, not sure. runs slower -and cooler!- than a traxxas Titan 12t 550) pretty torqy, and quite a bit faster than the stock 20t
-4000mah bionic battery 30c 7,4v

I ordered the kit. that will get a LRP 13.5t stock-spec sensored and a LRP ai-Pro ESC

You can't go wrong with anything Holmes just make sure to do your home work on the different turn motors.
I just switched to a tekin 13.5 turn brushless with a tekin esc.

Tekin RS Pro
Redline 10.5t
Hitech 7955 tg

Going to try an LRP brushless crawler ESC with the 10.5t and see how it works out.

If I were You, I'd start looking for (graupner, multiplex, robbe etc.)rs550, 7,2 v, or even a 9,6v. They're cheap, and especially the 9,6 v runs great on 3c lipo, and is very frugal on the Amps.

They're often advertized as hydro-speed, or eco-class speedboat motors, but they work great in any situation that requires torque and a bit of speed.

And again, cheap, cheap, cheap. Cheap 540 cans do not have the grunt to power the wraith adequately.

Axial's 20- turn 540 is a bit over-geared in the stock kit, just to get some speed out of it, and it gets really hot very quickly, and many peeps have already burnt it to a crisp under load..

Can you compare the performance between these two setups you've tried? I'm on the fence regarding which way to upgrade from stock--brushed HH, or sensored Tekin (though if the latter I'll probably pair it with a MMP).

Higher rated kv rating
The 11t crawlmaster is 2675kv
The 17t torquemaster is 3753kv

If geared right and right amount of truck weight the 17t torquemaster should be faster
