New Wraith body panels 9 Attachment(s) So out for the jury. This is the first major attempt at any body work. I like the curves, and have a few things I could smooth out. I will beat on this and see how it holds up. Seems to be strong laying right on the frame so no rattle. Tires all scrub at full stuff but this build leans toward rock racing so I am not concerned, yet. Kept the paint simple. Biggest mistake is the passenger side front fender to hood joint, I had it tight at ont point but after final tweaks and tightening the bolts down, I had a gap. Nor too bad though and you only see it from certain angles. I think I am going to black out the firewalls. Tried em blue and I like it from some angles, but hate it from head on. I think they should be black. Let me know your thoughts good and bad, I may do a version 2 with another SC body. Fire away...... |
Looks great. The rear fenders look just like the Campbell fenders you can buy for fullsize buggies. |

Thanks for the feedback. A couple of big thumbs up from guys whose work I admire8). The lines are nice and really show the potential for someone who knows what they are doing. I have an Associated sc10 body on the way so I may give it another try...learned a few lessons so should be able to smooth out some details. |

It started as the Proline chevy SC truck, and said "universal fit" with 3 or 4 truck names. I was lucky because I did my mock up with the Associated body so I was hoping it would still work. Needed a fairly smooth hood surface for the fenders to bolt on to cleanly. |
Nice touch with the mesh on the rear as well. |

3 Attachment(s) Thanks for the kind words:oops: I hope it gets some of the venders thinking about the possibilities. Cut right, a fender piece could offer customization, depending on where you secure the panel you can change the contour of the quarter panel. Tweak it way in for the full crawler clearance, or leave it a bit looser foe\r a flared out look. Same for the doors, you can cut them how you like, or even leave the center open and cover with mesh. If it is 3 pieces, the front clip can also be adjustable by the angle on the center hood piece. The center hood is cut as a general taper with tabs that fold up underneath the fenders to provide the overlap needed to join the pieces. So you can change the amount of taper in the front hood/fender. The mesh I use and have started to see is used in drywall patch kits. They are not all the same, you have to find the diamond shape. Also you have to de gunk it because it has an adhesive that is pretty stubborn. The mesh is pliable by hand but rigid eneough to hold form. It is great for infill areas and covers. Got some stickers printed out at the Office Print store. I think they are printed on semiclear envelope lable material. Not the toughest stuff, and you pretty much have to use them on white background, but to me the stickers are so temporary that I can get 3 sets of stickers made for under $2 and replace them as they wear. Still working on a rear cover with mesh combo. Need more mesh and I think I may buy a sheet of styrene to see if I can whip up a quick engine cove/gastank to cover uo the electronics bay. Working on ideas for version 2, but I will post my planned changes if anyone else is whipping up some ideas. I am going to try to create a thin door ledge by folding over extra material along the top of the door, just to give it some depth. On the rear 3/4 panels, should be able to leave the top flat of the fender cut longer with slots cut for the fenders to slide over the tubework for a smoother fit. I would like to see any other ideas out there, maybe a good collecting spot as new ideas come up. I have seem the hardbody toyota and several of the broncos (i think) that are really clean, and should be on this thread. Again thanks for the positive feedback. 8) Whacha got...... |
