What do you guys recomend for a HD locker?
Axial XHD no slop lockers has good reviews anyone using something different?

I'll only run Eggressors spools in my Axial crawlers. Lightweight, indestructible, and adjustable for any possible axle size. Got sets in my AX, SCX, and finally the Wraith. Loc-tite the setscrews and you'll never have a problem.

Only bummer is shipping from Germany takes a couple weeks.

..why do people call the felsenfest lockers a spool? Is it made differently than other one piece lockers? What are the advantages and disadvantages between the felsenfest spool and the highlandcrawler XHD no slop lockers?..

I run felsenfest spools in both of my wraiths. They are about as bombproof as you can get and are beautifully made!

No, they are similar.

Do you have to drill a hole in the Wraith axle housing to install these felsenfest lockers? I recall seeing pictures with holes in axle housings.....What tools do I need to install these spools?

You dont have to drill anything and the shorter screws to bolt the locker to the ring gear are included. Word of advise, apply loc-tite to the set screws and install only far enough in that there flush with the outter surface of the locker, then bolt the ring gear to the locker. When installing inner axles disconnect the driveshaft so you can spin the pinion between your fingers. Slide axles in and titen a set screw while holding the pinion between your fingers. You should be able to feal when the set screw contacts the axle shaft. Stop there and rotate the locker by spinng the pinion or axle and titen the opposite set screw all the way. Now go back and snug down the first set screw you started with then do the other side. The reason to do it this way is because you can get a set screw in a lot farther on one side than the other and they'll both appear tite but actually the end of the shaft is no longer centered in the locker and may cause problems down the road.
Also you may need a ball driver to titen the set screw closest to ring gear. I didn't but results may very, been hearing people haveing trouble getting into that one to titen it with a standard hex driver.

Highlands xhd no slop locker is sweet also I like the wedge set screw design. Only used mine on a few test runs but seems to work great!
Im sure they are all much better then the stockers.

I run the hot racing locker, front and rear. Its held up to a 4200kv venom pushing 40 series tires. youll snap an axleshaft before you damage the locker, I know, ive broke three sets of axles at the tires!!!

Actually that is a mini-spool, it only replaces the spider gears (what allows different wheel speeds around corners) not the whole carrier (what the ring gear bolts to). A mini spool is used to convert a standard open geared differential to a full locked spool. The holes in the sides of the mini spool you pictured are for the shafts that the spider gears would spin on to now just connect the mini spool to the carrier.

A full spool replaces the differential carrier AND the spider gears.

Remember back when we were running TLT axles and just filled all the spider gears with JB weld to lock things up? Like welding them in 1:1 for Lincoln lockers.

Hot Racing here to working great broke the stock rear setup hardened geat pins and all. love my new lockers
