The teeth are a bit thicker and have more contact patch...therefore slightly stronger.

This thing came out pretty sweet. What radio are you using to run 4ws,lights, and a winch? Any fear of ripping the lights off during winching

Thanks! Right now, it is setup on my 4PL...however, I dont have the winch hooked up. I will need to somehow free up a channel to get the winch to work.

Redneck, yeah, he wont be disappointed!

Lately I have been driving the hell out of this truck and it has been a blast!

I recently headed over to Louisiana to run with some of the ArkLaMiss guys and got a few pictures:

I hit this jump probably 20 times over the weekend....and was never able to make it stick on that other rock.

Here's one that I took with my cell phone that I thought was funny:

I also had my first real breakage....something that I thought would NEVER happen. I broke all three bolts that hold the tranny outputs to the main gear. We were running a rock race course through the middle of this rock garden and that's when they broke:

The race also included some straightaways and some jumps.

I have been thrashing on this truck and so far....these three bolts are the only real damage. I have run a similar setup in comp rigs for years and never had problems...

I am really impressed with the durability of this truck and how much fun it is to drive.

I was looking, and searching,( imagine that) for upgraded gears and noticed you had two different sizes for your beveled axel gears. Is that according to plan, and if so where did you put the higher gears?
Plus could you tell me who makes that upgraded locker you installed ?

Thanks in advance....nice build thread Jeremy

Yep, overdrive in the front, underdrive in the rear.

Here is the locker that I used:

I have the aluminum version with the stock hardware.

I finally got around to replacing those plastic upper links....I never noticed any issues with them, but I knew that it was only a matter of time before they caved. I went with some of the R2J upper links:

These should take PLENTY of abuse!

After letting my kid drive it this evening, I realized that it sounded like a pack of 50 squirrels on some rusty metal running wheels.....so I decided to tear it down for a general cleaning. I cleaned the drivelines and universals with WD40 and left a little on them before reinstalling. It seems much quieter! I also reworked the rear steering. I finally put some o-rings on the rod ends to get rid of the slop and I raised the tie rod up to the top of the knuckles....should help keep it out of the rocks.

I took this truck out for some fun yesterday and I must say.......this thing is a BLAST at the beach! High speed sand runs.....full throttle jumps from rocks...it doesnt get any better!

I did manage to shear one of the plastic knuckles on my rear steer (full speed slide into a rock). Luckily I had a set of VP wraith hubs and knuckles waiting for another project that got scavenged for this repair. I swapped the Axial knuckles to the rear and put the VP stuff on the front.

I'm sure you have fixed them by now, but I broke the outputs like that In an ax-10.... sheared the bolts right off... 3s and 8.5 brushless motor, but anyways I got some new bolts and epoxied the halves together and its held great even with a 7t puller motor...just a thought, i will probably do this ahead of time with my build using the RRP gear

You broke the bolts in that large gear that the outputs bolt to as well? Interesting. I just used a LOT of loctite when I put them back together. If these wont hold, then I will just have to upgrade to the Crawler Innovations outputs and Maxx shafts!

Thanks for the input about the epoxy.

Yeah, LOL....sheared the bolts plum off..... old school LRP x-11 modified with a 14mm rotor I think...... 3s and alot of timing.... RRP gear with steel outputs....badass little setup until the esc went up in flames....

I broke 3 rotors as well.... this was my sportsman rig....LOL
