Thanks! About 20 gates into the scale run, my front servo decided that it would only turn to the left.....so any right turns were done with the rear steer. It's OK, I needed the practice before supers the next day!

BTW, it was nice to meet you! And thanks for the strap.

I have the same lower links. They are awesome.
Highly recommend them and look good with the black body.

Yeah, the rounded edges are a nice touch! And yeah, I liked that they matched the paint as well...

After seeing a set of Swampers on GoingUp's wraith, I dug out an old/new set and slapped them on.

These tires look perfect!!

I also installed two sets of R2J stainless steering links:

I am taking this rig to a scale comp in San Antonio this weekend....it should be fun!

Yeah, I grew up in that area of Texas...it's a nice area. And yeah, this truck is a blast to drive and takes a helluva beating all in stride.

I finally got the foam setup perfect in these Swampers.

Crawler Innovations 5.5" Closed Cell foams (I used the wide inners because my rims are 1.25" wide) with Soft outers in the front and Medium outers in the back. These tires really come to life with this new foam setup. There is only minimal tire roll at full speed cornering (with a 17.5T and 3S) and still plenty of lug fold when crawling at slower speeds.

I hope to shoot some video this weekend.

Well, the foam setup I listed above worked quite well for crawling, but resulted in too much tire roll when cornering at speed, so I changed it up some. I am running the medium outers in the front and firm outers in the rear. This setup gives almost NO roll when cornering and still crawls very well. Each time I drive this truck, I am more impressed with these tires!

I also added some LockedUp scale hubs:

Still running just a front sway bar? What is your theory on running a front and not a rear? I was thinking the opposite.

Yep front only. I like it! I guess it depends on how fast your truck is. Mine is pretty quick. I wanted to get rid of the front end dive (body roll) when cornering. Kinda the same setup I run on my 1:1. Front anti-rock...rear stock puny (almost useless) sway bar.

Ah, ok. It would make more sense at speed and cornering. I was thinking purely crawling.

I was thinking a sway bar could hurt on climbs where you want that front end to settle. You know, those times when you could almost make the front settle by blowing on it? Seems like it would hurt in that situation just a touch, almost the same effects that running front droop would have.

It would be nice to have some cake and eat it too once in awhile...

Well, if you are talking about where one front tire is lifting before another, then yeah, I can see it causing those problems. However, it wont matter much if the tires are lifting evenly. You can see in the images I posted earlier, I didn't have much trouble with that vertical climb.

Yeah, I agree about the cake. It's not an easy task to tune a rig for crawling AND speed. I've made concessions on tire foam and sway bars in that realm...

Funny, I was just thinking that as I read your foam post.

Thanks for the info

You did find a pretty good balance for both crawling and speed.

The hubs look sweet!
