I painted the matte strips on the outside of the body, the rest of the body is painted on the inside.

Here's a link to the paint post on Axial's blog. The entire build-up of this Wraith can be seen there.

Wow Bender you build some sweet rigs and Awesome videos! Speaking of videos I just watched your Wraith vid. That 4WS is killer in navigating pinches. What camera are you using and what video software do you use to edit? Thanks for the reply and for your help on my Wroncho build.

So to get the flat black, you just used the same paint but externally? Therefor not using the shell as a "clear" to make it shiny? What brand of paint did you use? Looks good

Thanks.

I am using a Sony HDR-CX110 video camera.

I just use a Mac and iMovie to edit my videos right now.

Correct, I just painted the matte strips on the outside with the same paint I used on the inside, Pactra Outlaw Black.

Thanks. Initially, I wasn't sure if the black on black scheme would work. But, I am happy with how it turned out. When indoors it is tough to see from some angles, but in the sun it stands out.

From my experience, the 2.2 Ripsaws in the R35 compound are tough to beat. They just work in any conditions.

Cool thanks man for the reply on that!! I narrowed down the list to the stock ripsaws or the proline tsl's, But them coming glued to the factory rim have to the the heating prosses to get them off to put them on the mayhems,

Hey Bender
Looks great man! Your step-by step documentation is very helpful.

I plan to build a 2.2 Axial-based trail rig/basher that crawls well, and will be about as fast as a brushed slash.
I was following your Wroncho and Wraith builds, and have a few questions...

How do the Wroncho and Wraith compare on the following points?

-High speed handling
-Durability
-Crawling ability
-Any other factors to consider

Overall, would you recommend one over the other?

Thanks.

The stock Ripsaws that are included with the RTR Wraith are a harder compound than the "R35" Ripsaws. There is a big difference in performance between the two compounds, R35's are the way to go.

Thanks, glad to hear you found the step by step build useful.

They are both very close as far as performance goes. I am running R35 Ripsaws on both rigs, so both rigs are very similar. Wroncho is probably better for high speed handling, because of lower CG. But, durability and crawling ability are very close between the two. Wraith is easier to get into with less fabbing required. Wroncho is cool and different because not many people have them yet. In my opinion there is no clear cut winner, they both work great and are a blast to drive.

I tried out the R35 Ripsaws last weekend and i am very impressed. I went with a med inner and medium outer nova foam to get what I wanted out of them. No need to sipe or groove them. They just plain work.

Nice paintjob Bender

Yup, the R35 Ripsaws are tough to beat.

There is a huge difference in performance between the R35 compound and the stock RTR compound Ripsaws.

Thanks, I am digging the diff covers too. Once I add aluminum shocks it should look even better.

I just finished my latest blog post covering how I added some scale details to this build.
