Anybody use the new Castle Slate 2850kv motor yet? I have the Mamba X and 2850 motor sitting at home and would love to use it if possible. Probably be run on 3s as that’s all I have right now.

I have the same combo/set-up at home. I need to finish installing it this weekend. If I get time I will get back to you.

Getting ready to upgrade to a Holmes Hobbies brushless combo set up in my Wraith. I am currently running a a CrawlMaster 13T and the HH BR-XL ESC. 32P 57T spur, 10T pinion. Also running over / under in the axles. 38/13 up front; 43/13 out back. I run 11.1v 3s 35c packs. I know I want a Puller Pro in a standard can and the HH BLE Pro ESC, but waffling back and forth on KV selection for motor. Also, I'm running a Slipper Eliminator from Locked Up RC. If I go to brushless do I need to go back to a slipper? This rig is built up fairly bomb proof as far as drivetrain, but keep seeing lots of comments on slippers???

Also - this is primarily just a fun, recreational rig that I do trailing and crawling with. No comps or rock racing (yet). I'd say the split is 60/40 trail to crawl.

Anyway, appreciate any input on my pending selection. Thanks!

Hi guys!!!

I’ve stock gears, and a Holmes 27t brushed and I need more power, more speed!! I will try with a 3s lipo but I guess it will not be enough...

I would like a brushless combo as much waterproof as it could be... and It should allows me to crawl a little... What are your suggestions?? Thank you so much!

Time to upgrade the Wraith to a Holmes 27T, before I do I just want to make sure I'm doing the right thing here.

I'm under the impression that the stock Spur gear is a 56T 32P, so moving up to a 27T (from a 55T), I would want to purchase a 10T pinion gear to achieve the "5.6:1 pinion to spur ratio"?

If this is correct, where/what do I purchase the pinion gear? Robinson from Towerhobbies?

Thank you.

*EDIT I bought the Robinson 10T from Tower, hopefully I got the right one, hah.

I have a Wraith "Spawn" kit laying around. I'm going to install a front and rear steer and a two speed transmission. I'm still trying to figure out which motor I want to run. I want the low end to have an insane amount of torque, but want the high end to have enough speed to bash around and take some jumps. Thoughts?

Are all the recommendations based on using 2S & 3S lipo?

Hey everyone, I am new to trailing/crawling, just purchased a wraith spawn kit and a friend gave me a brushed 35t motor with an lrp esc to try, as it is stock now I have no issues to keep up with others on really muddy trails, (my comarades are using the gmade gom and scx10's). On some steep climbs where the gmade gom will climb hard I won't, and I feel the car needs more push power. But I get nice speed and crawling ability as I run.
Oh I am running on 2s and I would like to stay brushed.
What would you suggest for upgrading

* gears
*Pinion
*Spur
*Motor
*Esc
*Shocks

Thank you in advance
Sorry if it has been re answered the same question.

Just purchased the Holmes Puller Pro BL 540 Standard 3500kv, the Castle Creations Mamba X ESC. Im running 2S 5000 lipos. MIP drive line and hardened shafts and metal gears in my transmission. Im wanting to be able to crawl , but still want get up and go. Mostly a bouncer. Obviously lve got to continue upgrading. Im wanting to know what gear ratio would be better to achieve this? Yes, ive read a bunch on here, just need some input. Thanks.

move up to 3s lipo's and gear to between 5.0:1 and 6.5:1 and you will be able to do all you want crawling and wheel speed on demand.

With the 3500 on 3s you should be able to creep and fly. start at your stock ratio. I’m running a 9/54 and it creeps well, I have lockers front and rear, but a 13t or 14 should make it fly

I now have the Puller Pro 540 3500kv and MambaX installed. It will fly in reverse but forward, not so much. It being a sensored motor , i k ow i cant just switch 2 of the wires and fix it. Reversing the radio just makes the cobtrols backwards. I keep reading i need to reverse the motor direction. Some say change the ring gear to the other side on both axels. If i need to reprogram, can someone give me part numbers on what usb wires i need to get? Thanks for any info.

Reverse the motor with your castle link.

Castle link opens up your esc, that is how the aux channel works
